BGC 2021 QB/PTP Thread

He was playing Vanderbilt.
He was still throwing the ball into tight windows and being decisive with his reads. This takes nothing away from that.

Also note: his receivers are GARBAGE.

Mond's literal scouting report is slow reads and inconsistent, and you want him at 15? Maybe lay off the pipe this weekend. Mond's listed weaknesses are maybe the worst possible things that could be listed for a QB (like saying NKeal's only glaring flaw is separation as a WR)

I don’t disagree with anything you said about mond, but I want to be fair to the kid and add the following:

1.) Texas a&m passing offense has monds only reading half the field on passing plays.
2.) Texas a&m receivers as a group were large, slow and could not separate.
3.) I thought mond could read the defense pre snap, but struggled to read defenses (especially safety movement) post snap.

all that being said: I would take mond before fields! ABF - anybody but fields!

Wow. Why? Fields to me is lightning fast and by a couple expert accounts is very accurate with the ball. Could be what people thought prime Vick was supposed to be. I don't get how you start thinking the 8th best QB is better than Fields. Also btw don't get why you love Waddle so much, you post so much about this risky player over defensive players who are best at their position

trading up for fields aka Dwayne Haskins part 2, versus taking mills or mond in the second round is an easy decision.

take the four games waddle played and extrapolate the numbers and you get smith like crazy video game numbers.

but waddle has two things you don’t usually find in one player.
1.) incredible speed. Almost as fast as ruggs speed.
2.) suddenness. He is the most sudden player in this draft. Defensive backs can’t single cover him and even with double coverage, he always gets open.

ps: after making our offense infinity better, waddle as a return man is incredible. Watch the tape.

Mond in the late first or second would be ideal. Just to be clear, that's what my grade for him would be... late 1st/2nd. But if you are really QB needy and you really believe in a QB with that grade, I think it's acceptable to overdraft a bit. That's why I said earlier that taking him at 15 would be okay under those conditions. If we traded back to the 20s, the people at 19/20 could undercut us.

I don't think Mills is worth a 2nd though. He's very mid-round at best.

This draft is fairly deep. Trading back still nets us a good player.

Now, I know I'm a year early with this but I was looking at some Coastal Carolina tape over the weekend, and my attention got grabbed very quickly by the Liberty QB Malik Willis, who honestly I had never heard of before. He looks like he Lamar Jackson type scrambling ability but can actually throw a beautiful ball. Just going by the highlights which I know are always going to give a favourable impression, but he looks exciting. Maybe scrambles too much but that can be corrected. I had a cursory glance at QB ratings for 2022 and I don't see him on anyone's top 10 list but he's definitely one to keep an eye on. Look at that throw at 1:20ish...

I think it goes without saying that playing QB is about doing a lot of little things and mental things right, but this guy definitely has the big things going for him. Nice find.

I've been following him

Curious of his NFL future, awesome in college

He's a name for sure, been on the radar. I'll probably start the 2022 threads next week.

Some names to know ...
Carson Strong
Anthony Russo
Phil Jurkovec
Chase Garbers
Desmond Ridder
Jayden Daniels
Tyler Shough
Michael Pennix
JT Daniels
Matt Corrall
Spencer Rattler
Sam Howell
Kedon Slovis
Spencer Sanders
Charlie Brewer
DT Robinson
Sean Clifford

Probably 10-12 others but that's a decent group right there. Plus a 1 or 2 real sleepers no one is talking about

Corral is super interesting, he's my Heisman pick

rattler I like a ton as well

Does anybody know why qb Wilson keeps getting mocked to the Jets?

most draftniks think fields is the second best qb in this draft. If that is the case why aren’t the Jets all over this kid?

Because flashy, highlight reel plays stand out, and Wilson has a lot of them.

For what it's worth he's QB 5 for me. He's going to get himself in a whole lot of trouble if he keeps improvising and trying to play hero ball in the NFL. The Jets and the NFL are a whole different world from BYU and the FBS...

The last time McDaniels went to UFlorida he thought Chad Jackson and Tim Tebow would be good. Hard pass on Trask now.

As long as they don't use a 1st-rounder (like Skippy did for Tebow) or trade up in the 2nd round (like they both did for CJack) then I'm ok with Trask
...in the 3rd round.

According to Lombardi, it's the worst kept secret in the NFL. I love it, I think they are going to ruin him like they did Darnold.

i think we trade down to 22 and pick up an extra third.
At 22, bb takes lb Collins of Tulsa.
at 46 bb takes cb stokes of Georgia
With his first third round pick bb takes qb trask of Florida
With his second third round pick bb takes dt shelvin of lsu.
at 120 bb takes ot brown of northern iowa
At 122 bb takes wr dearden of both Texas
At 139 bb takes rb gaintwell of memphis
At 177 bb takes de Hayes of notre dame
At 188 bb takes og van lanten of wisconsin
At 197 bb takes wr Stevenson of Houston
At 242 bb takes cb McPherson of Texas tech

Really like Carson Strong. Howell & Slovis are probably the 2 best in this class, but I’ll defer to Bacon on the ratings.
