OT: The Case for Eliot Wolf to be Elevated to General Manager in Front Office

Oh man. I looked back and I forgot just how bad it’s been for the Pats with Florida players in the draft, including pre-BB.

Those 4 most recent names are particularly Inexcusable...So much better AND better-known talent available after those picks were made...

And Guss Scott makes it 5...Just horrible...

Took the wrong Gator with Cunningham over Dunlap. BB got cute with Easley trying to buy low on him because he was considered an elite DT before his second ACL tear in college. The Dawson pick sucked, would’ve been nice to have taken Fred Warner who went 14 picks later.

Why does Caserio get credit for good years but no blame for bad ones?

I don't think Caserio was good. I see him as neutral based on who was around him. Having a guy who decimated the Denver Broncos roster back in NE, seems interesting the Pats have been in draft decline since.

Agree on all of these picks but every fan on every team can do the same. Over a 20 year period of time Bill’s track record is very good. My hope is that the Dugger and Uche picks reflected a recognition that they need to start prioritizing team speed/athleticism.

If bb is prioritizing speed and athleticism, then he must trade trade up to 11 and grab waddle.

he is the poster boy for speed and suddenness.

He is far from the only guy in this draft with elite speed and athleticism. Parsons running a 4.39 at 6-foot-3, 246 lbs. is one example. I’d much prefer to take him at 15, if he falls that far, than spend draft extra draft capital to trade up for Waddle. In this draft, I’d trade into the top 10 for a QB ( not named Jones) and Pitts, that’s it.

outside of maybe stokes of Georgia, nobody in this draft has the combination of speed and suddenness that waddle has.

agular had a career year playing opposite ruggs, who has the same straight line speed as waddle, is not very sudden.

now imagine playing opposite a guy like waddle! Agular (and the tight ends) would see a lot of zone or soft man coverage. Defenses have to double waddle,

nobody else in this draft brings this combination and opponents have scheme for it.

It's been an issue for Bill (still the best GM) when he ignores scouts and does things like take a RB because his OC's brother said a guy was good (Laurence Maroney via McDaniels), or listens to select coaches who are more motivated to get their guy drafted (Urban Meyer). I can see why it would piss off scouts and lead to a department exodus the last 7 years. I'm glad to hear Albert Greer mention Eliot Wolf's name, but not that he mentioned Ziegler. We have to get the John Carroll (low) IQs out of the war room plus he probably talks to his old college roommate too much (McDaniels) on which bust college player to take next.

Wow...It was even Worse than I thought it was in there...I'm happy at least that ownership is Finally paying attention, before it's too late...

We need another trusted voice who BB will listen to. Is Reese still alive ? Does Wolf have BB's ear yet

This is before he shattered his ankle? Are there any Pro Day times after his ankle had healed to prove this?

BB: “Hey Eliot, how’s your dad doing? Haven’t seen him since he beat us in Super Bowl 31. Love Ron. Great guy. Is he doing anything on April 29th? And that Friday and Saturday? I’d really love to talk to him. All three days ideally. You know, just to catch up. Let me know, thanks!”

Now fans are choosing how the front office works?? The sky has been falling here since January, just a subtle reminder.

2016 14 & 2 won Superbowl
2017 13 & 3 lost Superbowl
2018 11 & 5 won Superbowl
2019 11 & 5 lost wildcard
2020 7 & 9

Since 2001 there has been one losing season, which is believe is the longest streak in the NFL.. BB has been doing it his way, very successfully, for quite a while now.

One losing season and there are probably 20,000 comments on how poorly BB has done.

Not to pick nits, but they were 12-4 in 2019 and their 11-5 record in 2018 was their worst since 2009. It was an amazing run.

It's a joke.

Can optimizations and efficiencies be realized? Sure. Can the pro and college talent evaluation and player selection process improve? Of course. Everything can improve.

Change the entire player acquisition mission statement and methodology and the guy running it?

Absolutely not.

Numbers used to be a real strength, not so much any more.. late onset numberological dyslexia.

Thanks..

You still haven’t made any case at all for promoting Wolf, you just keep in regurgitating your hatred of everyone else.

That was Then (with the Real GOAT)...This is Now (without the Real GOAT)...
