Path cleared for Jimmy's return? [SF trades for #3 pick]

3 firsts to get a qb, thats gotta be it for jimmy there. If not he should demand a trade, basically a lame duck if anything there.

San Fran just traded a TON for a rookie QB. It seems insane to me that they would do that and hang on to Jimmy G. They could get one of those first rounders back from the Pats, easy.
NE only got a 2nd for Jimmy with low miles.

Years later and injury prone, a 1st pick is highway robbery.

Teams have already lined up their QBs and have spent a bunch of their cap room. There's nowhere for Garoppolo to get his full 2021 salary other than maybe the Panthers if they can move Bridgewater first. Unless we're talking something like Trent Brown's minimal trade value and big pay cut, just wait for the 49ers to cut him.

Can a Jimmy G trade work financially without trading Gilmore (either to the 49ers or someone else)?
Jimmy has little guaranteed money this year or next. My guess would be that the Pats (or whichever team ponies up for him) would rework his deal out a couple of years. Jimmy would love that.

If it's Trey Lance, I'm guessing they hang on to Jimmy for one more year. It sounds like he's a bit raw and it doesn't do the kid any favors to hand him the starter job from week 1.

There is no way the Pats are giving away #15 for a player that SF wants to replace badly and that is on a 25M contract this year.

I think Belichick would bite. He loves Jimmy. He'd trade #15 for Garopollo and a third or something like that.

I don't think they are going to trade JG this year. Especially if they're after Lance. He isn't anywhere near ready

Just reported by BR. Will post details when I see em.

*Fins get #12 and #102 this year. Along with 2022 1st rounder and 2023 1st rounder.

Let’s the craziness kickoff.

But there’s still only about 11 mil free space now anyway isn’t there? Can a contract really be worked with him where he only accounts for something like 5 mil cap?

Zero chance we give up a first. Any team fixing up a first rounder for him is getting taken for a ride

Bill is infatuated with Jimmy. Could Bill give up #15 for Jimmy and some mid round picks (3rd round)?

Yes.

Jimmy's contract is fluff right now. It's all salary. So he can actually just be cut with very little cap hit and he probably knows it.

So, Pats can hypothetically offer him a four year deal with a $16-20m signing bonus and $4m salary this year. That turns his cap hit into roughly $8-9m while Jimmy still pockets the $24m he'd receive from SF this year if he weren't cut.

Edit to clarify - This trade just eliminated Jimmy's contract from SF one way or another. He knows he's never seeing the remaining $48m now so it's actually in his best interest to sign a new deal with a trade.

There are rumours the 49ers want Minshew. I wonder if a 3 way deal could be made between us the Jags and Niners. Something like:

Pats send significant pick to Jags and Gilmore to the Niners (Cap space reasons)
Jags send Minshew to Niners
Niners send Jimmy G to us.

Just spitballing.

The Texans really are the cluster**** that keeps on giving. What a haul by the lolphins, tip the cap.

Didn’t see it was posted in another thread. Mods merge or delete please. My mind is just blown by the amount given up.
