Which QB would you like to see the Patriots target in the draft?

One of the analysts, I think McShay, still swears by Darnold. Thinks he could still be an elite qb with the right coaching and environment.
Idk. What would the Jets possible ask for ? They don't have the best trade position here. If it's mid rd then maybe i guess but I am not sold. Always remember when he said he sees ghosts in the game against us. But I haven't watched him enough

If the Jete draft a QB, I predict the Pats will go very hard after Sam Darnold.

Both Palmers say he is a franchise QB in a bad situation:

BB likes his reclamation projects.
Put him behind our O-line with a good ground game and TE's and Bob's Your Uncle.
(I have to get over the fact that he looks like the 3rd generation of first cousin marriages).
Many grains of salt. Carson is one USC QB backing another. Jordan is a “QB guru” for hire, abs part of what you buy is him publicly touting you. He has said glowing things about Stidham for crissakes

And he may be correct. But after three years in that miasmic Jets organization, we need to take a hard pass on darnold and let San Fran rehabilitate darnold,

We don’t have time to waste figuring out he sucks.

Dolla Bill likes to zig when everybody else zags. I don't see him trading up unless who he wants as his developmental QB is available at picks 10-14. HOF quarterbacks can be found outside the top 10 in the first round and outside the first round:

Stidham is still in the running as the future QB1. If Cam gets his second chance to manage a formerly mediocre offense, then Stidham can't be written off so quickly.

What he needs is competition. My choices would be between Mills and Mond on the second day:

Tom Brady's stats weren't overwhelming at Michigan:

62% career completions with a 32 TD to 17 ratio.

Mond's completion percentage falls just short of the 60% threshold:

His 71 TD to 27 interception ratio is the best of this comparison. However, although his sample size is smallest, Davis Mills completed more than 65% of his passes. His 18 TD to 8 interceptions ratio was better than Brady too:

Assuming that none of the top 5 are available to the Pats at #15, my gut feeling is that Mills has the potential to be as good as any of them. Mills also has more yards per attempt than either of them.

Belichick publicly stated through the media that he was still looking for a starting an, paid newton like a mediocre backup, and still has the draft. We are “here again” because the process isn’t finished.
Sorry I missed that one and can't find it - you have a link?

No it was the day he signed it was pretty widely reported they weren’t done at QBs and were still looking at all available QBs.

So many different variables but it is true Brady's stats in college were not overwhelming but not many QB's until relatively recently had eye popping stats at college programs that played legit competition at least. The eras really are very different. Much easier to put up stats nowadays in college football and the NFL. Not on every team, of course, but in general.

If I remember correctly, Patriots big concern with Brady was why didn't he outright beat out Henson but they knew he totally outplayed the highly regarded Henson at the time. And that he beat some superior teams.

Nowadays probably from rule changes/innovation, a ton of quarterbacks at college level are putting up eye popping numbers. Given the very different circumstances between players, a player with mediocre stats could be better than someone with great stats.

Mond makes impressive throws into tight coverage; i.e. he had WRs who could not get open (hmmm, a good fit for the Patriots). Mond also has quick release and good foot speed in the flat (although I don't know how elusive he is in the pocket).

He also has a hunched back and happy feet like Drew Bledsoe, ha.

IMO, like it or not this is Cam's year. Belichick won't give up the store to trade up for a Qb that will only sit this year and he won't play a rookie. I think he stays where he is or trades down and winds up with Kyle Trask at some point. If Trask doesn't show the goods he can go after Jimmy G next year after the Niners fail again.
