OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Arians has a fat yap but I do give him credit for not being a control freak and recognizing what Tom needed to be successful. It clearly worked.

The crazy thing is that this team didn’t even hit what many considered its full stride during the season. If they play the offseason wisely, they’ll be a force in 2021 with a full camp and preseason.

Resigning Barret, Davis, AB, Gronk, and Succup while grabbing James Whote is the ideal off season move. They do that there the favorites next year don’t overpay Godwin or pick him over Barrett

I took a look at the Bucs' last four drafts and the number of high picks they have on rookie deals...and the sheer number of players on their roster making less than 1 million/year. And when I say high picks, I mean 2 top 50, 4 top 100 every stinking year.

It's insane.

Then they go get Fournette, AB, Gronk, Brady, Suh for about 40 million and they're off to the races.

Drafting at the end of every round/getting picks stolen really hurts. That said, the Pats now have a young roster and a lot of money over the next couple of years. QB will determine their destiny.

Does anyone remember what Chris Simms and Dianna Russini were saying about Brady's market last March? That he had laughable demands and he was trying to save face because he didn't have a market, that teams didn't believe in him anymore?

This is Russini: “I think at this point right now, Brady’s interest in other teams outweighs the amount of teams that are interested [in him]," Russini said. “I don’t think any of us have really considered that maybe some of this wooing — or some of the interest that is put out there on the side of Brady — is to save him embarrassment if the market isn’t as robust as you would think for Tom Brady. I think there’s a very good amount of teams out there who do not believe Tom Brady is their answer.”

The crazy Bucs coaching staff. Their QB coach Christensen (former Colts QB coach) said some crazy things. One, they were talking about collectively betting a million on how much Brady would rush for. He was joking. But you don't joke about that.

Two, he said on ABrown's TD, he did the opposite of what his route called for. He was supposed to run inside, then break out, like Edelman used to. Brown did the reverse, ran outside then pivoted inside. Brady just went with him.

Talk about an entertaining thread. This one is worth the read... Funny and painful.

Still hard to see Brady as anything but a patriot.

Bucs will choose Barrett over Godwin imo

They'll keep AB, and bring on Edelman and White

Evans
Brown
Edelman
Miller
Johnson
Gronk
Brate
Howard
White

Im praying for this! No need whatsoever for Godwin to be paid or tagged at that price and lose Barrett. Barrett with Vea/JPP is a hell of a pash rush and rush defense no need for Godwin when you have your WR1 In Evans and can sign AB for cheaper price

Godwin is Brady's security blanket and a hugely important player on that team. I hope he comes to New England.

Rewatching the game.

How does Ronald Jones not score on 4th and goal at at the one? Couldn’t be an easier path to the endzone, and he tries to smash into the wall. All he had to do was put the ball up a little higher and extend it out..easily could have put it over his head and extended. If you fumble, who cares? It’s fourth down.

I'm hoping they move on from both Godwin and Barrett unless they can get a really cap friendly deal.

No offense to either player but it has more to do with their positions being the most overvalued in the market. Godwin is a really good receiver, and I wonder if Brady would try to veto the move...but Godwin isn't worth $16M+. Love Barrett but there's no bigger money pit than a $20M pass rusher...I mean, last night's game (and the Green Bay game) was a perfect example of how pressure and sacks are more of a team effort and the dominant defensive tackles are where you should spend.

I really hope they bring back Suh; I almost would say I'd take him outright over Barrett, but I'd definitely rather have him for half the price.

They must re-sign David, and I'm guessing they will.

If Howard comes back healthy, there's almost not enough ball to go around. Adam Humphries, the dude that dissed Brady two years ago and signed with Tennessee, could probably be signed for dirt cheap. Amendola might also be a decent addition for one more year as a situational guy. All in all, there's likely to be some bargains available for wide receivers expected to be a third option in the offense and excel at slot/inside routes.

Barrett is good vs the run as well And makes there pass rush special when matched with Vae and JPP. JPP is a free agent next year and is 32 I believe so I doubt they’d resign him and Suh is up there in age. Barrett and Vae have to be resigned to keep that defense good can’t lose Barrett than JPP next year and expect to be that good defensively.
