Deshaun Watson? (UPDATED: Caserio Says Team Has "no interest" in trading him)

Sure, but both teams have tons of cap space and there could be a lot of receiver talent dumped on the market as teams struggle to get under the cap this offseason. Any team with a top 3-5 QB like Watson and a lot of cap space could rebuild to be a contender this year.

Now I have no faith in the Jets to rebound. So I would think Watson would likely flounder there because that is the Jets.

But I don't think Watson wants to come to the Pats. I think after Bill O'Brien and looking to get away from Caserio that odds are he wants nothing to do with Belichick or the Belichick tree. And I don't think any QB wants to be the guy to follow Brady. No matter how good Watson does here if he was traded here, he would be held to Brady standards which is nearly impossible to match. And since Watson can veto any trade, I expect him to stop any trade to the Patriots.

The Jets GM fleeced the Seahawks out of 2 - 1st round picks for Jamal Adams. Now, Adams is good, but paying that much for him is nuts.

Looks like Becton is going to be a stud and Mims should be a keeper. A better QB and a drafted 2021 RB with a couple of other pieces and the Jets are a 8 - 9 win team.

Yeah, Douglas is off to a good start at GM.

Don't forget a bunch of cap space too.

Adding say Allen Robinson n Thuney in free agency would help a ton.

It's a bad look when the team went further in the playoffs the year before without him. They desperately need to hit on some draft picks on defense.

Ol AB and Bell sure have it rough playing next Sunday in the 2020 Super Bowl.

I would say that they both made a great decision.
That is a foolhardy way to evaluate the moves each player made over the past few years. AB has problems that go beyond his contract situation, so there’s more going on with him than can be addressed here.

But let’s look at Bell. Le’Veon Bell cost himself millions of dollars from his holdout in Pittsburgh. That’s money he will never see again. He is 28 years old and ran for all of 328 yards this year. He fleeced the Jets but his career absolutely tanked in what should have been his prime years.

If you think the fact that he got cut then lucked his way onto a backup role for a team headed to the Super Bowl justifies ruining his career, more power to ya. But I don’t think DeShaun would try to shoot his way out of town hoping for the same career path Bell went on, even though it has resulted in a Super Bowl appearance (as a barely-making-minimum-wage backup).

I don’t know where becton love is coming from. The guy played 691 snaps the whole year and gave up 7 sacks and 7 penalties. The kid from tampa has been the best tackle thus far from 2020 draft.

Wanna bet

First off, Bell could have played under the franchise tag - again - and suffered a career ending injury. You foolishly omit that possibly in your flawed analysis. You falsely claim that Bell lost money that he will never see again, but fail to see that upon signing his NY Jet contract Bell received 27 million guaranteed.

Guess what? Bell did see the 14 million in franchise tag money that he held out for in his bank account the day he signed with NY.

How do you know what Watson is thinking? DeAndre Hopkins gone and JJ Watt on the block. Another head coach and new GM. The Texans arent going anyplace soon.

Didn't he say he wanted to play for the Jets?

It's been rumored but I don't think he's actually publicly stated it. I think it's more the media saying it because he wanted the Texans to interview Saleh.

While this is true, he has to guard against overplaying his hand. If he restricts teams he is willing to go to too much, he may just force Houston to keep him.

Or he holds out and totally screws them as team know they have to trade him. For the Texans if they're moving him it really needs to happen no later the night one of the draft.

Homers here are going to 5hit their pants when the Jets get better faster than the Pats.

Well I'd sure as hell **** a brick if Miami or NE gets Watson.

Yeah but really, how badly could he screw them? They were 4-12 with him, so it's not like him leaving would, like, derail a potential Super Bowl run....

I agree that he won the trade with Seattle by a bunch, but I don't know if your evaluations of the Jets' drafting is spot on. I didn't follow Becton this season, but the Jets' o-line was a mess. You may want to blame Darnold, but I don't think it was all or mostly his fault. The few Jets fans I know probably wouldn't speak as highly of him as you do.

And Mims was a second round pick who had 23 catches for 357 yards and no TDs on a team with no receivers and plenty of opportunities. He may turn into a decent or even good starting WR, but if he put those numbers up in New England as a second round pick people would be labeling him a bust. Calling him a bust wouldn't be fair, but I am just pointing out how people would view that kind of production.

The Jets need a lot talent on both sides of the ball. I give Douglas a lot of credit for the Adams trade, but I need to see more from him in the personnel department to prove to me he isn't yet another in a long line of mediocre to awful GMs for the Jets. He can't live off that trade forever. His free agent signing this past offseason really didn't pan out.

What makes you think the Jets will get better faster. The Pats are a better team right now with just about as much cap space. The Jets have $62.8 million and the Pats have $54.6 million. But the Pats will get more when players who took a year off either retire or get cut like Marcus Cannon ($7 million) and possibly Donte Hightower ($9 million).

Mims didn't even practice 'til around mid-season. Obviously Covid, then two successive injuries.

Becton? While not All-Pro yet, definitely looks the part.

I was actually a little worried about him near the end of the season vs Cleveland. He got beat a couple times by their stud DE (Garret?). Becton won most battles vs him, but definitely got beat a few times.

Then I watched the Steelers play Cleveland. Pitt doubled teamed him every play, and he still got through often.

The only concern I have with Becton is his size. Dude needs to trim down a bit. 370lbs is just an injury waiting to happen.

I am not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of the Jets' roster. So I will defer to you.

Although Becton was drafted 11th overall. I would hope he turns into at least a Pro Bowl caliber tackle or he would be a disappointment. The fact that he may be living up to his draft position is a good thing because a lot of picks in the top 11 turn out to be disappointment, but we are talking a top 11 pick.

I didn't know about Mims. So maybe my assessment of him is off quite a bit.

NYC vs Boston vs Miami

Pizza alone makes this an easy decision for Watson.
NY pizza could quite possibly be the most overhyped food on earth. I love pizza but absolutely nothing special about “NY” pies.

in all honesty I bet 9/10 players pick Miami I that debate
