Jacksonville is probably going to land trevor lawrence and could let minshew go. He's been productive with seriously lacking talent and is a capable quarterback. He's a hard worker. He may not be the next franchise quarterback but he'd be a good gap filler for when we do draft "the guy". The top qb's in the draft will probably be gone by the time we pick. I'd seriously take a hard look at this guy as he's probably the only guy that's feasible outside of maybe Jimmy G that I think is worth going after that is already in the NFL.

He showed flashes last year, but was inconsistent. And he had a decent start to the season even if the team only won one game.

If he is cut, he is worth a look at. If the Jags are willing to trade him for a reasonable price, I might consider it.

Popgun arm and gets happy feet the moment the rush gets near him which further impacts his mechanics. I’ve watched the guy every game he’s played due to where I live coupled with the fact that the wife is a Jags fan. Now, if we draft a Lance/Trask/Jones/etc and need a stopgap, I’m fine with Minshew taking over the role until the rook is ready. But he wouldn’t be the future any more than Cam or Stid.

There’s no reason for him to be anything other than Lawrence’s backup next season. He’s too bad to be worth trading for and too cheap to be worth cutting anytime before cutdown day.

Until we fix our craptastic pass blocking it won't matter who we have under center. It was ****ty through large periods of 2019 and has been ****ty most of this season as well. Neither Cam nor Stidham had much of anything resembling a clean pocket tonight and that has been the case for a lot of this season.

Until we fix the line and give a QB a clean pocket and time every now and then all these fantasies about a new QB are like putting a shiny new handle on a piss bucket.

Is the pass blocking actually crap? Linemen can only block for so long without any receivers getting open. When you receivers create little to no separation the qb has to hold onto the ball longer, giving the pass rush more time to get home.

I saw both Cam and Stidham have very little time tonight and that has been the case for most of the past two years.

It doesn't help that Wynn can't stay on the field.

Last night both tackles were rookies, David Andrews & Shaq Mason both left the game due to injuries..

That may have something to do with what happened last night..

It was an overall abysmal performance enhanced by the rash of injuries throughout the game.. Bower, Uche, Jennings, Hall and McCourty all left the game due to injuries..

That contributed to the fact that one team looked like it was gearing up for the playoffs and the other looked like it was playing a preseason game.

What happened to “next man up”. Our backups aren’t getting it done you are right

"Injuries"

Are you overated? Not getting the playing time that you deserve? Too many turnovers that arent your fault? Inconsistent? Fans calling you a bust?

How far we have fallen that some are calling for the likes of Haskins and Minshew to be brought into camp next year.

That’s right.... some people want the QBs who were not good enough to survive in Washington and Jacksonville to come to New England.

I’d rather have Johnny Foxboro.

LMAO, someone wanted Haskins to come here? I didn’t read that thread but whoever that was must have been drinking heavily.

There was absolutely no time in the pocket and lack of separation within that time. Josh Allen had close to twice the amount of time . Hence the difference in quarterbacking.

Maybe there is such a lack of talent on all sides that evaluating the qb this year is a little bit difficult. I think the next year will also be a losing season. Very difficult to manage it. I would like us to draft the best available players irrespective of need and see how ut goes. Draft a qb in 2022. 2021 is too dicey and should draft wilson if he is available to us , else stay put. Not sold on trask, Lance or Jones.

Allen was unbelievable yesterday. Gave a Mahomesque performance. We looked like a division 2 or 3 team competing against Alabama . Outmatched, outclassed, outmotivated .

Should use the cap space wisely. Maybe try to roll it over to 2022 and sign more impact free agents when the rookies have got some experience

Minshew would absolutely look worse here than he does in Jacksonville (unless we make some big changes to the offensive roster), but if he's available for a 4th round pick or less then I would at least like to fill the backup spot with him. Let's not forget that we need 2 QBs worthy of a roster spot when we're starting the offseason with 0.

A healthy Wynn; Thuney; a healthy Andrews; a healthy/motivated Mason; and Onwenu should be an adequate pass-blocking unit...Unfortunately that didn't happen as often during the latter half of this season as it did during the first half...But if you think it wasn't good enough this season, wait until Thuney's gone...We're going to need him or a reasonable facsimile thereof to anchor our OL until the talent disparities at QB, TE & WR catch up to the talent along the OL; then and only then will we see true complimentary football return to the offense.

"next man up" & "backups" is an interesting take, perhaps they Pats could have absorbed 1 or 2 injuries, but the number that occurred and continually moving folks around to meet all those needs impedes offensive performance.

OTOH Newton stunk up the joint, and McDaniels seems to have lost his ability to play call a creative game plan.. it is time for big changes to this team including the O Coordinator.
