If the effort was there- yikes

But he's our michael jordan. we're pats fans. If it was any other player i'd agree with you but of course we're going to bring him up!

Not to mentioned many thought he was finished last year. He got killed at times. Amazing what he was still able to do despite the lack of talent. Had they stuck with brown they likely would have been in the afc championship game at the very least.

So you are going to go back to his Cleveland days? How many decades was that? We will ignore 08 without Brady and him going 11-5

Or the when Brady was suspended for 4 games? How about a few weeks back playing the Chiefs? Or their last SB where Brady really didn't do anything?
Put it this way.... we aren’t making the playoffs this year. It will be the 4th year we didn’t with Belichick. The only 3 full seasons he didn’t start Brady are 3 of that 4.

Since he took the job in 2000 his records without Brady are

2000: 5-11
2001: 0-2
2008: 11-5
2016: 3-1
2020: 2-4

Total: 21-23 or .477

This is his record in New England without Brady. That is 2 and 3 quarter season sample size.

If we count Cleveland it’s an unmitigated disaster.

He's great with mediocre talent on O but he's Master of The Universe with guys who can play up to his level.

You've clearly forgotten some of the 2000, 2002, and 2005 games.

Nope. Maybe 2000, but 2002 and 2005? I can’t recall a game that was worse, can you?

That was one of the worst performances I’ve seen in the bb era. Outplayed and outcoached, and for the first time in a long time im supremely worried about our qb position.

it doesn’t look good at all, but im going to hope for a bounce back in buffalo and potentially season saving win. Lose that one and season’s all but over.

Brady , gronk , edelman and getting lucky with amendola, white, Mitchell, Hogan pulled us so far.. now with no accurate passer and years of crappy drafting the odds are against us.

We got lucky with few undrafted and lower round picks . But you cannot always miss on your second round or first rounders. No pro bowlers at all...

And our talent depth is too shallow. Remember we had Malcolm Butler as a fallback option. Hardly any back up talent like that..

Yes its true. BB misjudged the whole Brady situation and I can forgive him for that. What is less forgiveable is the complete lack of planning for transitioning to life without Brady. It seems that BB was just making it up as he went along this year and unfortunately, it shows.

Sorry, but this idea that Belichick did no planning is just ridiculous. Your claims that he was "just making it up as he goes" is more like what your post is showing than actual reality.

- Belichick clearly focused on having an O-line that could run the ball and made sure we had the RBs to do so. Hence his drafting 2 last year and 2 this year AND franchising Thuney. His having Michel, Harris, Burkhead, and Taylor is clear forethought on his part.
- Belichick brought in young TEs who would GROW with this team in Keene and Asiasi. Far too many are already giving up on them despite them being rookies and the entire Covid mess. Izzo is actually playing decently.
- Belichick started rebuilding receivers last year. Harry, Meyers and Olszewski are works in progress. Again, YOUNG players that far too many are giving up on already because they look at the "greener' grass of other teams while ignoring that this team's offense is significantly more complex than other teams offenses because of what it requires receivers to do both pre and post snap.

The Patriots clearly liked what they had seen in Stidham. They figured he needed some more seasoning which is why they brought in Cam. The Pats clearly THOUGHT they could Maximize Cam's strengths and minimize his weaknesses while Stidham got better. And they seemed to do that the 1st three weeks. Cam has since imploded. Today, he showed me that ONE player screwing up time and again could actually lose a game for a team. Cam was SOLELY responsible for every series ending prematurely in the 1st half. I don't remember Marc Wilson or Scott Secules ever being that bad.

Belichick has been a head coach without Brady for 7 seasons, this is his 8th. He missed the playoffs for all but one year, and has a record of 56 wins and 65 losses, on his way to missing the playoffs for the 7th time in 8 years without Brady. 5 losing seasons, very likely 6 after this year.

Belichick has been a head coach with Brady as a starter for 18 years. Made the playoffs 17 times, 9-7 record the one year they didn't, 9 SB appearances, 6 wins, a record of 218 wins and 62 losses.

The proof is absolutely in the pudding. He's a really good coach. Brady is the GOAT. Give Brady anything but trash and you have an instant contender. The Pats were in it every single year since day 1 after he became the starter.

Nothing suggest we are beating buffalo next week even though they stunk against the green beans. We shall see but the lack of talent is showing and cam isn’t good enough to hide that.

we have had these type of games before although anamolies e..g the 41-17 charger game in 2005. It happens. but the problem is that they havent played well last 3 weeks and things are moving up.

Soo now he isn't arguably the greatest coach in NFL history or top 5 all time? I mean.. do we all realize great players have great coaches..great coaches have great players and great teams have both?

I would normally agree if Brady was here, Edelman was younger and we didn't lose Hightower etc because of Covid. I am not giving up on the season but if you don't have a legitimate QB with some weapons you are going to struggle. I think this could be the last season for Edelman, McCourty and other veterans. The good news is that the next offseason we will be in good shape in regards to the salary cap and the overall cap could go down. If this is the beginning of a rebuild Bill could sign some playmakers and continue to build through the draft. My only question is who is going to be the next QB?

Really good post and fair points all across the board. The qb is the biggest question mark, which Cam do we have ,the one we saw for the 1st three games or the last two?

Should we trade BB for a few first rounders when we can get them ? Or is there any other solution you have ?
