OT Jete release Le'Veon Bell

Bell was more of a product of the Steelers offense than anything ese. If you look, James Connor or anyone else the Steelers put in at RB has done just as well as Bell. Don't forget, the Steelers had Antonio Brown and Smith-Shuster when Bell was running for 1,200 yards.

Sitting out that year killed his career. Only the JEtes would have signed him to that huge contract. He got $28 million of the $59 million dollar contract. He will never make up for the $14 million he left behind when he sat out the 2018 season.

He really isn't anything special and is a locker room cancer, hard pass. I'm sure that someone will sign him.

No thank you

If he wants to stick it to Gase I’d say maybe he ends up a Bill. Aside from that maybe he tries to mend fences and heads back to the Steelers.

Michel has 9 20-yard runs more recent than Bell's last one.

Gase didn’t use him because he didn’t like him on a personal level, apparently. If Bell comes for cheap, I’d take him in a heartbeat. A true 3-down back and he’d have room to run behind our OL.

He is simply not the same back he was 5 years ago. The entire league knows this. Someone may sign him on the cheap but I don't believe it will be us. Gase and the Jets are a true medical waste fire and if I was Trevor Lawrence, I'd be either going back to school next year or telling my agent to quietly let the Jets know that I won't play for them so don't draft him. New York is a great town with maximum endorsement possibilities but the franchise is so poorly run that he'd be insane to go there.

When asked about his release, Le'Veon replied, "We're on to New England"
Bell’s running method would not mesh with Belichick, so something would have to change (which I doubt it will). Bell ad hocs every play until something develops. That isn’t what Belichick likes.

Blocking matters.... Lev Bell's talent didn't magically disappear.

It won't magically reappear now if he goes to a team with a great O-Line and TE's.

The talent fairy didn't zap Randy Moss of his talent in 2006, she didn't sprinkle magic fairy talent dust on him in 2007 to revive him.

Football is a TEAM sport. Blocking is important, this is true whether your name is Bell, Moss or Sony.

Nothing in football happens in a vacuum.

This, more or less. I think there's a serious chance Bell is just done, as he's 4 years removed from his last truly dominant season. However, there's also a real chance he could be good again with a better team around him (especially in front of him).

Even in the worst case scenario, I think he could be some team's James White and catch a bunch of passes while not rushing often. His pass catching never fell off (statistically) the same way his rushing averages did.

The man is a problem player. Another AB if you ask me. Well destroy the team.

If we can get him a semi-reasonable deal, I would do it in a heart beat. The Jets are awful and never really used him right. I think he would be great with Cam and our other backs. Plus, he gives us another pass catcher which we desperately need.

I am not the biggest Bell fan but a prime Bell and Connor aren't even close talent wise.

he's injury prone.......we have enough of that already

Yes...this is accurate.

He was reliable and a good multi-purpose back for about four seasons in Pittsburgh, though like you said, he was in a perfect situation with that offensive line, a really good QB, and a great passing game.

That he got elevated to superstar status shows people have trouble separating stats from reality. In reality, in actually watching him play, nothing about his game stood out as special. He wasn‘t particular fast, explosive, elusive, hard to tackle, etc. Much of his success came from getting a lot of touches and being a reliable pass catcher. He is pretty big for a dual purpose back which made him a better red zone guy than most.

Not that he wasn’t good (he was) but there are always a handful of guys, or more, who could put up similar production with that offense and that amount of volume.

Here’s one stat that’s hard to believe but true: Bell has one season in his career where he (a) played more than 12 games and (b) averaged more than 4 yards per carry. Sure..it is cherry picked, but it is true and speaks to his durability and efficiency.

Now he’s 28. He hasn’t even been above average since 2016.

Patriots are likely to do what they always do: throw a nickel at him and see if he takes it. Probably won’t.
