Setting the record straight. Hoyer bested Stidham for # 2 and despite Hoyer being 0 - 10 in his last starts is the guy in the biggest game of the season.

As bad as Hoyers record is, no way stidham was going to make his debut, after not even dressing all year vs KC. Bill is going to put the vet out there, run the ball, manage the offense and hopefully play mistake free football and rely on the defense to keep it close.

I watched hoyer last year come in for jacoby for the colts in a game at Pittsburgh last year. He can definitely hit the throws still and is not a terrible option for a spot start. Only issue is he can be pretty pick happy. If he protects the ball he could give us a shot tonight. He did throw for 3 tds on a very good Steeler d without a very talented offense and had the colts in position to win that game but av shanked a very makeable fg. Of course he did stink it up the very next week but hopefully its only one game where we actually need him to play well.

Right. They aren't going to outgun the Chiefs.

That the blueprint.

one thing you know........hoyer is not going to beat the cheifs
the question will be whether he can even make it worth watching before they replace him with stidham anyway

The Chiefs aren't the 85 Bears or whatever here. If all the RBs are playing (White and Harris) and the defense shows up this could be a 200+ yard rush and 100 yards passing kinda win. Just can't fall too far behind too fast, which is easier said than done

If Stid comes in and looks like JG did after Brady and the offense got their asses whipped by the Chiefs - I'm ok with that.

IMO, if we had a week to prepare....Stiddy would receive consideration, IMO.

Stiddy has only 4 passes as a pro...and one was a pick six. Hoyer has about 20 starts as a pro....not many wins...including the worst playoff performance I ever saw...but I digress...he's the most experienced guy.

Strangely enough, Hoyer has never started a game for the Pats....

Given the rate that non-Brady Pats QB starters get injured/ill he should probably plan to suit up next week. The week after at the latest

Let's review:

Vinny Testaverde = Only played a few snaps to extend his TD pass streak in every year of his career.
Dough Flutie = Only played a few snaps to get his drop kick in the history books.
Matt Cassell = Played 15 games.
Jimmy Garoppollo = Got dinged in his 2nd game as the starter....so...1.5 games.
Jacoby Brissett = Lasted 2.5 games, but in the game against the Bills...he had no chance with a broken finger, IIRC.
Cam Newton = Got COVID after 3 starts.

Hmmmmm....hmmmm......

The results after Matt Cassell are absolutely brutal.

Garopollo and Brissett both basically played 1.5 games before getting hurt. Brissett gutted it our against the Bills, before going on IR, ... given the results we probably should have just started Edelman for the LOLs.

Then Newton tests positive for COVID-19 after three games.

Stidham WAS injured in training camp. That is indisputable, and is probably why he lost out on #2 QB to Hoyer, since he beat out Hoyer last year

Little bit misleading to say he beat out Hoyer. They weren’t really on equal footing. Fourth round picks rarely get cut. Do need to consider that.

He wasn't going to get cut, but if he looked worthless, the Patriots would have kept 3.

not with Hoyer they're not

It may just tell us how "not ready" Stidham is.
Here is to hoping Hoyer plays the game of his life tonight!

That’s why they play the games. A rookie QB damn near beat the Chiefs in his first NFL action
