Idle thoughts - the 2-1 edition

I'm still nervous about what offenses run by the likes Mahomes and Lamar and Allen to a lesser extent might do to this defense. Guess we'll find out shortly.
None of those 3 QB's are better than Russell Wilson. So the hope would be that we can learn from that poor performance and improve against the 3 QB's you mention.. Also if you go back and rewatch that game, we weren't too far off from making the big plays instead of Wilson making them. Also remember it's very early in the season. Hopefully players who are getting criticized now, will be better as the season goes on.

Plus they're playing a team that can expose vulnerabilities in their defense to our benefit. Looking forward to the game tonight.

Yeah, that didn't work out to well.

Mahomes is at least as good.

Cowherd's take is not a good one at all. Seattle and GB should be in the first tier. They are just as good as KC and Baltimore. Then you should add the Steelers, Bucs, and Pats to the 2nd tier. The Bucs have beaten Carolina and Denver, so I'm not sold on them yet as tier 1 contenders. Meanwhile, you can't count out New Orleans who've lost two straight without Michael Thomas. If he played last night, the saints probably win.
I'm not convinced that KC wouldn't blow the doors off Seattle's defense. You saw what they did to a really top tier defense tonight and it wasn't a contest.

Is that even possible? I thought the "opt out" was an irrevocable decision. I'm hoping I'm wrong
Ive done some research and can't find a definitive answer either way. The only reason i posted that was i thought i had seen a story about a player that said he was opting back in. I don't see what the problem would be if players wanted to opt back in. The player could state that he feels its safe to play, there hasn't been any problems, so therefore he wants back in. Of course he'd have to get in game shape

Funny the best draft pick contributing now is Michael Onwenu. A 6th round pick.

Where are the rest?

Uche, Dugger, Jennings, Asiasi, Keene?

Dugger as been playing and playing well. Asiasi has been playing mostly as a blocking TE to this point..

Uche is on the IR.
Keene was been a scratch.

Jennings played the 1st two games but was a healthy scratch. I believe this was strictly a match-up issue.

Right so a 6th round lineman to date has been the most productive. Not criticizing as the sample size is small and JJ Taylor has been productive but would have liked to see more from the linebackers maybe?

Vs Seattle but not in the other two games and is it me or does he look shorter than the 6'2 they have him listed at?

It's just you. And, again, it's about match-ups. And are you SERIOUSLY pointing to f'in TACKLES as your gauge to how he's doing?

Dugger has spent a bunch of time covering TEs. Along with JoeJuan Williams, they essentially shut down Darren Waller against the Raiders.

Here is where you should be looking to get an idea of how much playing time he's seeing.

This is helpful. Thank you

Belichick looked at the best secondary in the NFL and improved it. In 2019, we had troubles against TE's, even with Chung as a strong safety. Belichick moved Williams over to take the role of covering TE's (after trying to sign Talib for that role). Dugger was drafted to help in this role. He even brought in Phillips to be more of a traditional safety.

Obviously missing is a lot of help at LB, TE and WR. Copeland has been some help. Byrd plays more than any other WR; Harry is improved. Assisi has been a backup blocking tight end. Izzo has played 80% of the reps.

He was credited with being one of the guys responsible for keeping Faller in check.

I enjoy how that chart ages him a week each game.....:)

Lol we have like 2 LB's on the roster. Not sure how physical we can be.
And they both suck...And our DTs after Guy are not stout, at all.

We need ALL of Uche, Jennings & even Fat Thor to get healthy and then contribute...ASAP...or find people outside the building who can.
