Maybe Cam is a better QB than we (and everybody else) thought?

Given the time and circumstances, Cam has been great for the team and the Patriots fan base.

Following a superstar QB is fraught with problems, ask the Dolphins post Marino or Colts post Manning or the Lions post-Orlovsky....
Cam seems to embrace the role and hopefully the team keeps winning and makes this an enjoyable playoff year.. They make the playoffs and no matter what happens then, I consider the year a success....

yeah, people forget in 2018 prior to his injury that he was having his best completion year. So he certainly can pass as we also saw sunday against seattle....

the other aspect of his success I think is the coaching around him. Bill/Josh have the ability to get the best out of players. I am not sure if Cam has the success he has had with the patriots so far with another team. So many coaches are stuck in their dogmatic ways and try and fit square pegs into round holes when it comes to players. Bill says what can the player do well and molds his offense/defense etc. to their skills

Just wait until the offense finds the perfect run/pass ratio. McDaniels and Cam are a work in progress - as is the rest of the offense. When Gunner and Harris are in the mix and Asiasi/Keene begin increasing playing time, new wrinkles will begin to appear.

We aren't even scratching the surface yet...

I was actually complimenting Newton in that post. But we all have to admit he went positively McNabbish in that game. A little Roberto Duran.

It happens to the best of them.

Same could be said of Newton that day. Those fast edge rushers were on him in seconds, and for a guy who escapes the pocket that way, he was under assault.

Only week 3 though. Looking forward to seeing how he does against some of the better defenses like SF.

• With three games as the starting quarterback under his belt, Newton passes Jimmy G and others for sole possession of 16th most in franchise history.
• The two wins as starting QB puts Cam in a tie for 15th place with Garoppolo and Tom Ramsey (2-2, 1986-1988).
• Newton's .667 winning percentage ranks 3rd best, behind JG (2-0, 1.000), TB12 (219-64, .774), and tied with Matt Cassel (10-5).
• His 68.1% completion percentage is best in team history (minimum five attempts).
• Despite throwing for just 162 yards, that was enough to surpass JG and Tom Owen for 21st place with 714 career passing yards.
• Cam's touchdown pass to Rex Burkhead moved him into a tie for 24th most in team history, tied with Scott Secules ('93), Neil Graff ('74-'75), Brian Dowling ('72-'73), and **** Christy (who went 6-11 with two TD on halfback option plays in 1960).

Also in his next game, Cam will likely have more rush yards for the Patriots through 4 games than Brady has in 4 seasons combined. LOL

Still has a long way to go. He was confused by what the Raiders threw at him on defense. That's what we've come to be very spoiled by- Brady is almost never ever confused by what he sees on the field because of his phenomenal memory and long years in the league. He's seen everything and a little more.

That's not exactly true. He's was good the first game. He was MUCH better the second game. Then cooled off some in the third game. It's really ludicrously premature to make that a thing at this point anyway.
