Maybe Cam is a better QB than we (and everybody else) thought?

He has carried the team (for 2 games)

Cam showed us his offense is not one that needs a lead. They don't fold when they're down.

Only week 3 though. Looking forward to seeing how he does against some of the better defenses like SF.

His MVP year was one of the best QB years that I've ever seen. Didn't much like him against Denver's pressure in the SB but other than that, he's already shown he is a fantastic QB. I haven't watch Carolina play much in recent years--I take it his injuries made him look like a shell of himself. Hopefully he's rejuvenated.

He was very subpar the first 8 games of 2015. He did have a fantastic second half of that season.

Healthy Cam is about 12th best in the league. I figure with Bill and Josh he's comfortably top 10. So far so good.

Not really. The defense was lights out vs Miami. If not for the Harry fumble, they probably only score 3 points.

The defense played well. "Lights out" probably should be used when you're playing a good offense, which the Dolphins aren't.

Lights out???? I disagree.. The fumble DID happen so It was 14-11 late in the game... We needed to score points AND keep their offense off of the field to win.

Announcers mentioned his throwing mechanics seeming to have improved since last year. Could be that theres more focus on mechanics here, or maybe he's more open to the coaching now than in previous years. If it is something he is working on, it seems a likely cause of the "changes" people are noticing through 2 games.

OK but I'm keeping him at #6

Best ever QB's to be a Patriot:

1. Tom Brady
2. Steve Grogan
3. Doug Flutie
4. Jim Plunkett
5. Babe Parilli
6. Cam Newton
7. Joe Kapp
8. Rich Gannon
9. Brian Dowling
10. Drew Bledsoe

Based on total career, and whom you'd start in a game you're interested in winning.
Let me put it this way:

We're going to war and everything is on the line including our lives.

Who do you want stepping into that huddle, calling the plays, taking the snaps and leading our team?

Then I'd have to make it 1A. Grogan 1A. Brady

Focus on it. This may be part of what Cam has been talking about when he has commented on the attention to details with the NEP.

“Cam’s worked really hard on his throwing mechanics, and we’ve seen significant improvement during that time,” Belichick said ...

“Coach Fisch and Coach McDaniels, as well as Cam, have worked very hard on certain things that we’re doing that maybe he hasn’t done as much of in the past or we’re doing a little differently, whatever the case might be,” Belichick said.

He has been. And once again Bill has made the rest of the league look silly signing him on a vet min. deal.
Signing a former league MVP QB to a vet minimum deal, and then coaching him up to be better than ever.

just the latest example of BB being GOAT.

yup and this will be true for you when Brady is 60 and Grogan is 80. As a side issue, thinking that Grogan is the equal of Brady is very worst analysis I've seen this year.

OBVIOUSLY, for one game the choice is Brady, even, perhaps for one season.

What quarterback consistently performs under pass rush pressure? (not "kind of" pressure where the QB has a lane to run away - guys constantly in "I can touch you" distance and closed into the pocket)?

The answer is "none". If you are constantly (every series) under pressure as a QB, you're going to make mistakes or take sacks.

I'm not sure why you think I'm saying otherwise. Pressure impacts QBs.

I was actually complimenting Newton in that post. But we all have to admit he went positively McNabbish in that game. A little Roberto Duran.

It happens to the best of them.

Most people bristle like that when it's suggested that Cheevers start a must win over Dryden or Hasek
