Pats @ Seahawks Pre-Game Discussion

I think it’s going to be an L. I don’t like how we match up. I think they’ll have 8 in the box, double Edelman, and dare someone else to beat them deep. We have *checks real quick* zero guys who can do that at any level of consistency. I’d love to be wrong, of course.

Damiere Byrd would probably be the fastest player on the field for either team . . . if he sees the field. Not sure about those routes, though.

All makes sense, but why don't you think James White can find space against these linebackers? Wagner's great but getting older, Brooks is talented but to green for White at this stage. I think McDaniels can scheme up some mismatches there.
I’d think this would be a big game for White, but I don’t see him being a true game breaker. Seattle plays a type of Cover-3 in which four are pretty consistently underneath. White will have his catches, but he’ll have to work through a LOT of junk to make anything out of them. Through the air, Edelman will be the focal point.

Love Pats vs. Wilson. He's my favorite QB not in a Pats uni. I like him more than Mahomes.

Do they still have a garbage O-Line? Would like to see Rivers tack on a few more pressures (although Wilson is the last guy you want to get behind/over pursue)

Would love to see the run game gash them. If they're bad against the run, our great O-Line and the presence of Cam should at least keep it interesting. It's up to the D to keep em from... Going 31/35 lol.

Don’t we already have a Seahawks thread?

Before every game for years , I have always had this nervous feeling and this year is no different. Having said that my expectations were not very high coming in to the season, I thought every win this year is a blessing. The Seahawks game was one I had pegged as a L but after last Sunday my hopes are slightly higher.
We all know what Wilson is capable of, he is one of my favorite QB's in today's NFL. We also know that they will be doubling Edelman all game. I am not worried about the running game, but some one like Harry or Izzo needs to have a big game,, Also Josh needs White much more involved in the passing game for us to have a chance to win this game.

Looking forward to the game. I think the Patriots have an excellent chance to win. Seattle's defense isn't anything special and the offense runs through Wilson. Don't think the receivers are that good either.

Two NE strengths must come up big :
(1) their running
(2) their DBs

Yeah I'd add Harry to the list. My guess is this team will be surprising people all the way up to the playoffs. There is a lot in this team and if they stay healthy it may get mighty interesting.

The TEAM will be interesting regardless (but I know what you’re saying). I mean - the intrigue, there is plenty of it. Brady gone, BB here. Cam here. It goes on n on.

This is a good matchup for the patriots. Seattle’s run d has been bad for years. If they sell out to stop the run receivers will run free in the secondary.
A decent offense and great defense is the matchup against a good offense, blah defense like Seattle has.
Seattle will move the ball but good defense will limit them and Seattle’s defense makes new England’s offense better.

Not like Seattle’s corners are scaring anyone either.

I'm happy the game is on National TV. I don't expect to be happy with the outcome but should be a fun game to watch.

The Seahawks back 7 is as good as anyone's but the front four are definitely below average. I am really surprised by your comment on the receivers. Lockett and Metcalf are not that good?

I think the Pats can keep it close. There are two matchups in their favor:

1. Pats OL vs. Seahawks DL

The offensive line is earning rave reviews after week 1. Andrews is back, Mason looks healthy & Bedard had Elumenor as one of his three ups. They were the highest graded non-QB unit in the NFL by PFF.

On the Seahawks defensive line, they are fielding a trio of JAGs on the edge in Benson Mayowa, Bruce Irvin & Damontre Moore along with 2nd year player L.J. Collier. The interior isn't much better with a rotation of Reed, Ford & Green.

Say what you want about the Dolphins but Wilkins & Van Noy are probably better than any DL on the Seahawks. Strength vs. weakness in the pats favor. Think SB52 with the Eagles OL blowing the Pats off the snap.

2. D.K. Metcalf vs. JC Jackson

Arguably the best deep ball QB-WR tandem in the NFL in Wilson-Metcalf against (statistically) the best deep ball CB in the NFL in Jackson. This could be the game Jackson earns a national reputation as a top 10 CB. Metcalf struggles on shorter routes & Jackson should be able to frustrate him down the field.

A big mismatch in the trenches along with a secondary to keep Wilson's deep ball at bay should give the team a good chance at an upset.

They benefit from the scramble drill

If the Pats pull this one out, they might be better than nearly every poster believes.

Tough game.

I'm not sure I'd be amazed if we won. Imo, we're a good, just not great football team. The Seahawks are riding on how far Wilson can carry them, but a W here for us will still be awesome.
