#1 Cam Newton is a REAL starting NFL QB. He showed why he won the job out of camp. He IS who we THOUGHT he was!
#2 N'Keal Harry looked neither composed nor explosive. Made a bad blunder fumbling the ball through the endzone. Don't be surprised if he gets cut sooner rather than later. The only problem is we barely have enough healthy bodies at WR as of now.
#3 New England's STIFLING defense returns! It was a grindout win and our D played a huge part in containing the Dolphins, holding Fitzpatrick to 3 interceptions and under 200 yards passing. Really impressed with this unit.
#4 Tight Ends. What Tight Ends? This unit went MIA today, continuing the misery of last season. Only 1 catch out of the group for the whole game.
#5 What's wrong with Sony Michel? He seems to have lost that burst that made him look so good his rookie season. He should have had the entire offseason to work off any niggling injuries, right? Less than 4 ypc from Michel and our QB doubled up on Sony's rushing yards. Not a good look for the young man taken with a 1st round pick ahead of the likes of Nick Chubb and Ronald Jones.

Not a clue why folks are so down on Harry. He made a mistake in the literal first game of the season. It happens.

It wasn't just that bonehead play. He was spoon fed other catches but can only muster 7 yards a catch. The guy can't get open. How many starting WRs do you know who can't average 10 yards a catch. DeeDee Lamb on the Cowboys, a rookie, just put up 60 yards in his very first NFL game today during covid and sub-optimal virtual practices.

Harry sucking is a central part of the BB-the-GM sucks narrative so many here are enamored of. So it's not just confirmation bias when they say Harry still sucks, there's an element of fear, because if Harry ends up being good that narrative will be somewhat unhinged. Expect more hysteria if Harry continues to improve.

Same thing with the BB-can't-pick-2nd-round-DBs myth, which also buttresses the anti-BB narrative. That one is particularly bizarre: can anyone even contrive a mechanism by which that might be true? Nope, they're either wrong analytically (not comparing to other teams etc) or if true it's just a run of small numbers bad luck. So expect lots of hatred direct at JJ Williams and Kyle Dugger. As one of his many failings, the narrative says BB has 2nd-round DB aphasia.

The really sad thing about the anti-BB pro-Brady crowd is that Brady is gone and BB is still here, so if they're right the fan base will be miserable and angry. What kind of person wants their fellow fans to be miserable and angry? What kind of fan will be miserable if the team does well and BB is proven right about Brady's decline?

Actually BB is one of the best GMs in the business. Repeatedly finds gems for nothing like JC Jackson. A dozen examples. Problem is, a strength of his in listening and trusting his staff, is also a weakness. I always feel good about our OLine draft picks because of Scar but I know our high draft picks at RB and WR are going to bust because they came from McDaniels.

Harry doesn't fit the mold of a traditional WR that people want. He still doesn't have a full season of football under his belt so to be calling it that he's gonna be cut is goofy stuff only to come from the addled minds of people who who are too far up their own butts.

He's a different sorta guy and yeah right now it looks like he wasn't worth where he was drafted but it's just simply too early in his career for that nonsense.

I’m inclined to wait at least ten games to judge hairry, hopefully he gets it together. I wonder how he can get some separation though. Watching him makes me wonder why we got rid of Gordon, cooks, Sanu and the crazy Pittsburgh guy

Same with the 1st one against Gilmore.. The guy clearly pushed off Gilmore to make the catch..

Eh. Gilmore clearly held the Miami player's arm on the first DPI. I didn't think it was an outrageous call. Some refs let it go others call it.

The second DPI on the other hand where Gilmore broke for the ball before the Miami player, tried to get around him and then was on the floor was a joke. Especially because that bailed Miami out on 3rd & 18.

That being said they also most probably screwed up Newton being out of bounds on the TD. It was generally not a ref showcase.

What was worse was his first reception. After the catch, he's running at the DB and I think "he's going to plow through this dude for a first down". And he... crumpled. It looked like he ran into a wall. Come on, man.

When that happened what went through my mind was that he was on the injury report with a shoulder injury and most probably didn't want to take a hard hit with it. As the game moved on he clearly became less careful about it.

I was bummed to not see anything out of the rookie tight ends. I saw Asiasi on the field late, was Keene active?

Keene suffered a neck injury during practice and was not active for the game. Asiasi was active but given how much the running game was part of the gameplan Izzo played over him.

Nothing against any players past or anything but I had fun watching this and didn’t feel that old anxiety. For the first time in fifteen years or so, I wasn’t freaking out every five minutes as there wasn’t a lot of pressure to win. There’s always some pressure to at least do well but the stupid talking heads have to find someone else to rag on all day

I actually thought Harry was pretty good. With only 19 passes thrown all game catching 5 on 6 targets was solid and he did a tremendous job fighting for that one first down carrying a couple defenders. Fumble was obviously an issue but if besides that I'd take a repeat next week.

Yeah, don't let the haters colors your perspective. Harry had a good game catching and running the ball. Myers and Byrd did not get a throw.

Halftime adjustments were the key. The Pats left plenty of points on the table yesterday. But consider that they took a 7-3 game took the second half kickoff, marched down the field, scored a TD, got a three and out, and then marched down the field again. If not for the Harry fumble, the Pats would have scored two TDs, and taken up the entire third quarter. Limiting Miami to only three offensive plays.

I think this is BB idea for the Chiefs and the Ravens, limit there possessions, shorten the game.
