Yeah they'll be getting a vibe change all right...from a winning one...

Last season didn't look like a winning vibe to me in any part of the team including the QB.

Lol at the arguments that BB brought in WR help for Tom Brady.

Aside from Antonio Brown, BB brought in a bunch of JAGs, injury prone players, a guy who quit on the team a year prior and drafted one f***ing guy in the first round who's been terrible. Then throws a 2nd round pick down the drain for Sanu who was already known to be nothing special.

Oh yeah, BB really put in a solid effort building the offense for Brady last season. :rolleyes:

Billy had one objective going into the 2019 season and that was to improve the skill positions at WR/TE and he couldn't do it. He shopped the clearance section and it bit him in the a**! And we're still waiting as their WR/TE group is arguably the worst in the NFL right now.

There are those who will take any opportunity to denigrate BB who will be, when it is said and done, the greatest football coach of all time.. for myself will reserve judgement and see how things play out. 6 Superbowl wins + 9 AFC championships in 20 years is more evidence of how great he really is.

This team will be tweaked and retweaked several times in the upcoming weeks.. stay tuned.

Brady this and Brady that.. #12 has moved on and he will always be a great memory, but he chose warmer pastures.
Funny I thought Brady played QB. Bill is the the one coaching and masking deficiencies.

But hey if you want to believe BB had nothing to do with the last two decades then by all means be that guy.

@TomPatriot
No matter how many draft picks Goodell
steals from us, the rest of the league is still
vulnerable. The Patriots are loaded with
experience and leadership in that locker room.
We're more dangerous than you realize.

@captain stone
Dangerous to your dynasty,
Tom, not to the Chiefs and Bucs!

@TomPatriot
The Patriots will continue to have
strong special teams and a top
coaching staff....

@Ian
The intangibles will no longer
be of any concern to us. Nick Folk has
been released. We now have no kicker.
The last remnants of the Old Patriots
have been swept away.

@TomPatriot
That's impossible! How will we even
attempt a field goal or an extra point
without a kicker?

@Ian
The local teams now have direct
control over their territories. Fear will
keep the players and fans in line. Fear
of the owners, and Goodell.

@TomPatriot
And what of the Buccaneers? They already have
the G.O.A.T. quarterback and G.O.A.T. tight end,
plenty of weapons and a good defense. Plus, it is
possible, however unlikely, that if we play them
Tom and Gronk may know aspects of our game plan where
they might find a weakness and exploit it.

@Actual Pats Fan
We will soon be acquiring new
reinforcements.

@captain stone
Any moves made by the Patriots at this
point will be a useless gesture,
no matter who becomes available.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are
now the ultimate power in the NFL.
They'll win the next two Super Bowls!

@Actual Pats Fan
Don't be too proud of this instant
juggernaut Tampa Bay has constructed.
Ex-Patriot quarterbacks like Plunkett, Flutie
and Brady are impressive, but insignificant
next to the power of the Patriots.

@captain stone
Don't try to frighten us with your
obsolete ways, Actual Pats Fan. Your
sad devotion to that embarrassing old
man who can't keep it in his pants, and
that antediluvian logo and uniform, and
that senile old coach who should have
retired already is pathetic...

@Actual Pats Fan
I find your lack of faith disturbing.

@captain stone
Gurggglhnhnmmhhhunhaahkkgrnkleffff...

@Ian
Enough of this! APF, release him!

@Actual Pats Fan
As you wish.

@Ian
This bickering is pointless. Cam's the starter.
I've received word that Folk and rookie Justin Rohrwasser
have just been brought back.
We will see who is kept for the
opener. We will then crush the AFC East
with our typical, methodical precision.

The idea Brady never had any weapons at WR and elsewhere is completely false.
Tom simply brought out the best in them.

From David Patten to Reche Caldwell, from Deion Branch to Wes Welker, from Troy Brown to Julian Edelman, and so on.

We don't need the GOAT to win the Super Bowl again. Just someone who won't screw up, and can make plays when needed.

Definitely. I think they absolutely “count” as weapons for Brady.

Completely agree re not needing the GOAT to win it all. In this case health is so important.

And then it seems, for all his greatness, all of a sudden . . . he didn’t.

As would be expected from a 42 year old QB. Father Time always wins in the end.

Yep. Last season had a different vibe, one I had never sensed during Tom's time in New England. You kept waiting for them to crank it up and lock in, yet it never happened.

It's become rather clear in hindsight that Brady was mentally checked out and wasn't lifting the team with his leadership, engagement, and drive as much as he had in the past. Perhaps harsh, but seemingly a true statement based on the information available. And then you get the article yesterday that some players feel the morale of the team has been better this season with Tom's departure, given Tom's poor attitude last season, and you get more pieces of evidence/data points.

I'm looking forward to a re-energized team (and more specifically, offense) this season. Sometimes change/turnover is a good thing.

It will be great to see bb catch Halas in a few seasons. It would be amazing if he hung around to catch Shula. Maybe having his kids around will give him a reason to coach many more years . Would have been great to see BB catch Shula if that ******* was alive to see it

Exactly, but knowing that guy, he could prove me wrong in Tompa.

Is that so? Tell me.... which season did the Patriots win a Super Bowl so comfortably that you can take away the greatest QB in the history of football, replace him with someone else, and still have won the Super Bowl?

The first one comes to mind. So does the last one. Depends who that someone else is obviously.

And we’re talking about future Super Bowls. The Patriots weren’t winning one again with a 43 year old QB.

Really? You think a good-but-not-great QB leads the Patriots to victory against Oakland and then also leads a game winning FG in SB36? Really??? The team that was 5-13 before Brady took over would have won a Super Bowl with a lesser QB? Really..?!?!

Oh, and you'll note that I mentioned the entire season, not just the Super Bowl itself. A good-but-not-great QB may have been able to win SB53 for NE, but that same good-but-not-great QB would not have gotten us there in the first place by beating KC. So try again.

You said “win the Super Bowl comfortably” so it’s clear as day to me we are talking about the game only.

Like I said it depends on who the “regular QB” was. Put Mahomes on the Patriots and I don’t see why Bill couldn’t have won that SB.

What I said was "which season". Your (deliberate?) attempt to misinterpret my words does you no favors. But now that we are clear regarding what I meant, I am glad to see you are backing down from the notion that they would have won SB53 with a lesser QB.

LOL!! OK, pal.... and when the Patriots sign Pat Mahomes, we can have that discussion. I don't know what planet you're living on where Patrick Mahomes is a "good but not great QB" though....

In the meantime, let's say..... which season (key word: SEASON) did the Patriots make it to and win a Super Bowl by so comfortable a margin that you could have taken out the greatest quarterback of all time, replace him with... oh... say, Cam Newton circa 2020, and still have won the Super Bowl?

Good luck answering that one without making a fool of yourself.
