Some weren’t a surprise, a couple were:

Devin McCourty
Matthew Slater
David Andrews
James White
Lawrence Guy
Jason McCourty
Ja'Whaun Bentley
Cam Newton

No Edelman is surprising. What’s up with that?

Great to see Bentley on there, need a big year from him.

If Edelman was captain material in the eyes of his teammates, he probably would have been one years ago, but it's never happened. It's okay though. He clearly takes a leadership role, and not every star player has to be a captain.

Cool to see Bentley as a captain! Gives me confidence in his ability to step in for Hightower. Doubt he will ever be the same player from a total skills standpoint but if he can "QB the defense" 80% as well it'll go a long long way.

this take makes sense. White and Andrews have been captains for a long time. Newton is the QB, a star, and a was previously a captain on his old team. so no real surprises on offense.
