There’s a Patriots thread so here’s one for the league.

I expect at least one big name QB. Wilson?

Appreciate the thread. Beat me to it.

That hurts them on defense at least as much as losing Hightower hurts us.

The Eagles traded for Marquise Goodwin, restructured his deal to make it a 1 year deal (so he is a UFA after 2020 season) and now he opts out.

Couldn't happen to a nicer team!

EDIT: The above is mistaken. Apologies for my error. I thought they weren't tolling those with high risk conditions but it turns out all opt out contracts are tolling.

Michael Pierce opting out in Minnesota. Big FA pickup for them.

First Goldman and then Pierce? How convenient for Green Bay..

Otherwise known as the “players who are reasonably intelligent” thread.

Predictably, some Brady ball-washers are running with the "They know that all hope is lost without Tommy" theory about the Pats opt-puts.

This is a great example of something unique to the NFL in that he is a guy who just signed a new deal and will lose very little money since he is only losing his year 1 salary.

He signed a 3 year, $27 million deal (which had a $6 million signing bonus), but his actual 2020 salary is only $3 million. By opting out, he has turned it into a 2 year, $24 million deal.

Are you sure? I thought it tolls the contract and makes 2021 year 1 of the deal...

No I am not sure. I absolutely may be wrong on this. I lost track of where they stood on tolling.

EDIT: Yup I was wrong on the tolling. I will edit those posts.

The product for all teams this year won't be great if top guys keep opting out.

And i have ZERO issue with them opting out. During a pandemic where we know so little and have zero control over it? Just look at baseball. The Marlins season is on pause...such a mess if not in a bubble

Edit: i read that wrong- thought it was an opt out but that’s a positive test I guess.

Even with the top guys, I think September is going to be ugggggggggggggggg-ly. Both in terms of gameplay and officiating.
