Patriots were 4th in scoring and WON the SB, which they had not done in the last 9 years WITH Dante followed by being 3rd in scoring and going to the AFCCG.
The patriots scored more points on each of those seasons than they have in any season since.
So, how did it go when Dante left last time?

They fired their O Line coach within 2 years because their QB was almost killed. That's what happened.

Dugger was 29-42 on several media boards, so I don’t see how anyone could be shocked by his selection. He’s the perfect Money.

This is some crazy revisionist history. We won a superbowl because of a miracle play by Malcolm Butler aided by a great press by Brandon Browner and miracle goal line tackle before by Dante Hightower. Not because of the bad OLine coach who was fired the following season after Brady took 4 sacks and was destroyed by the Broncos defense.

My biggest question is why the Pats had him higher than Winfield. In the latest depth chart updates they have Winfield starting at FS in Tampa but Dugger backing up McCourty

I'm under the assumption that it's realistic that we aren't making a deep playoff run, so it's mainly looking towards developing Stidham as a QB - if he's the guy.

That's really the question isn't it? Strategically why would a team bury itself in continued cap jail with high priced offensive skill position guys if the one person that can get the ball to them isn't the right fit over the mid-term (2-5 years)?

Aligning next years team to its remaining strengths of defense and special teams with Brady leaving and solidifying the inner core with TEs and OL this draft so if he's not you can maybe still run the ball is a way to remain at the best competition level possible while not burdening the team with no flexibility coming out of a year where you can definitively determine if the QB is the guy or not.

Another example of many fans demanding instant gratification in every circumstance, aligning to fantasy cultural understanding, and not looking past the current minute much less the next 3-5 years.
