Since when is III a white supremacist symbol? **** I was just thinking of getting a forearm tattoo of it too.

Unfortunately, when you pick and stick an icon that was a personal favorite of Heinrich Himmler and the SS, that's bound to happen.

In what context and to whom is the Sonnenrad "obscure"?
In just about every context. The average person has no damn idea what it is, and probably thinks it's some Spiderman type of emblem before ever guessing it was loosely affiliated with the Third Reich. You'd actually struggle to find pictures from that era displaying the sonnenrad. But hey, a prominent National Socialist symbol.

Lol "personal favorite". And? So was Richard Wagner.

your problem

You’re really killing it with the replies. Do you actually have one single thought in your head, or are we supposed to parse through your inane ****ty, passive aggressive replies?

it’s not. Based on my research there’s nothing racist about the group. It’s just super anti government. And members have used violence. Again just based on my research. SPLC is ready to label anyone and everyone racists and as far as I can see they haven’t labeled this one racist

Pretty sure it isn't Goose.

Its that tricky nuance thing that a Venn Diagram would illustrate well. You have the 3%ers on one side, White Supremacists on the other, and some portion of overlap in the middle (which would hardly be unique to the 3%ers)

I'm far from an expert, but I think the 3%ers are more closely aligned with the Oath Keepers; which both groups are more "anti government Libertarian cops and former military" types than White Supremacists....

It has always been IMO an ode to the 3% in the revolutionary war, and a promise that they would do the same if need be. Never have I ever taken it to mean they hate black people. Guess this is the age we live in

Maybe it's just that I'm pro gun myself, but I do not give a **** about the tattoo.

So its sounds like you're safe to get that one. I agree that the average person doesn't know a lot about history, so you could tell em it is just that, a Spiderman emblem.

Ole Heinrich put it at the center of the of SS's main meeting place, which they considered literally the center of their ideology....typically not someplace you would put your tenth favorite symbol.

While I am not a gun owner nor have I ever had the slightest desire to fire one, I agree completely.

ETA - From his POV, if the III imagery meant something to him at the time and he thinks that the group has moved in a direction he no longer allies with, he can do as he said in the tweet, get it covered. He's a grown ass man and can and should make the decision based on his personal introspection.

Love to know who the media **** was that b#tched about his tats...bet if his tats said refugees welcome or my body my choice or occupy wall street not ONE member of the media would question him

Cause those are the same thing. Btw using the word **** doesn’t make you cool or less of one brah

I know nothing of the group but he says he renounces it so who gives a ****. I swear it’s unforgivable to make a mistake in today’s culture.

and when I say that I have no clue who this group is and whether it is something to be ashamed of (racist) or not.

I'm in the same boat re: guns. Never been in the presence of one, cops notwithstanding. I'm pretty far left politically, too. I just think some people need guns.

he will be our kicker.calm down......just a kicker....but i like him.

Yup and Yup. Same description I would apply to myself. Left sitting and and as long as you exercise your right responsibly, I'll support you til the cows come home.

Fascinating convo. From this side of the atlantic I would doubt Bill would draft someone who's first act as a Pat would be to call Hightower 'boy' or play Johnny Rebel albums in the locker room...

A guy who was eventually deemed a traitor once painted the symbol on the floor. Ok.

That's the lone instance of it being used from that era. I'm going to stick with, yes, it's an obscure "Nazi symbol".

So you say in one post "I'm going to stick with, yes, it's an obscure "Nazi Symbol"" and then in a previous post pined about the idea of "Something as obscure as a tyr rune or sonnenrad tattoo would still have just as many people b*tching."

Not sure what to tell you man...maybe don't get a tattoo of an obscure Nazi symbol if you don't want the possibility that you encounter someone who knows what it is b*tching about it?

I think most people view what people permanently apply to their bodies are statements about the person; a belief or mantra, a symbol, an experience, a loved one...generally something the person holds dear. I got nothing for you from the fact that most people don't like Nazis. Sorry.

Alternatively you could just do it and give everyone Double Freedom Rockets. I think you're in luck here if you go with this choice. A good portion of Americans probably can't even find Germany on a map let alone know about Himmler's axis mundi.
