DRAFT Pick 37, Patriots Select Safety Kyle Dugger (Division2)

The upside: the could end up working a lot like the Jamie Collins pick. Early second round after we trade out of the first, everyone's waiting for an impact pick, and Belichick comes off the top rope with some obscure-ish guy that most people consider a reach. Then everyone goes back and watches his film and realizes he's actually an insane athlete who projects well, and probably would've been higher on more people's boards if he didn't play on such a ****ty team.

That's pretty much the best case scenario, anyway.
This is the kind of player you pick up to stop the ravens and the chiefs

Wow 4 angry emojis so far from y'all

.

As it looks more and more like there could be no rookie camp, OTA’s, or mandatory minicamp, I think the expectations for every rookie may need to be lowered.

That would seem to hurt the players who would normally be thought of as "NFL-ready" but now might not quite be, and benefit the rawer prospects that weren't expected to start immediately anyway. ... maybe it pushes ... Kyle Dugger up closer to Xavier McKinney.

Good job, me. Nailed it.

How is Captain Stone?
Not very well...at all...

Could've had him at 71...

But let me guess: He's a great Special Teamer, right?

Little Billy just can't help himself, can he?

Where's the Wuhan when ya need it?

Brady just texted Stid: "I feel your pain..."

No. He's not a ST guy. He definitely wouldn't have been there at 71 - maybe off within the next 10-15 picks.

He was projected to be a 2nd round pick. People who were reacting negatively to this one want Trautman and he played in like the worst football conference in the world. Woodhead played D2 lol

Gotta love people ****ting on a guy they know nothing about. He ain't Jordan Richards. The guy was projected second round and by all accounts has good physical tools. Chung is old, safety is a need and Dugger fits. It could be much worse.

Yeah, in general I love S/LB hybrid types, and I think you increasingly need them with power running games making a comeback. Every team in the league can spread you out these days, and at least the majority can run on you if you get in the nickle vs. a no-huddle. The solution is guys like this. If Derrick Henry doesn't get 180 yards next time the Titans play us, Duggar could be a big part of the reason why.

Well the measurable are right, physically he is a big kid very good speed for a Safety, and he returns punts. I like the pick. I'll bet the kids is VERY coachable.

  1. Comments like this from Draft Wire's Gavino Borquez weren't uncommon: "Adjusting to the speed of the game and bumping up in competition was not a problem for Lenoir-Rhyne's Kyle Dugger today. During the one-on-ones, tight ends struggled to get open against him. Dugger is a safety in a linebacker's body with a cornerback's speed."

LMAO. BB is intentionally trolling at this point. Trades out of the first and his next pick is a divison II safety in the second round that nobody has heard of.

This isn't a Tavon Wilson situation, Dugger is a D2 guy but he's not an unknown. He was pretty consistently ranked as a 2nd round prospect, although my impression (maybe incorrect) was that he was more of a late-2nd guy. So even if it's a reach in the traditional sense, it's not a bad one.

He's a tight end eraser. You need that against Travis Kelce or George Kittle. Hell lack of ability to cover a tight end cost them a bye with Gesicki.

I had a 2nd on him so I like the value. S/Hybrid is a big time need. Our S corp is aging and this is actually a great situation for Dugger to learn in under Chung & DMC. He's an enforcer that can cover, roam, tackle. Again from above ... Think Box/over hang defender. Spy. Should make a living in the MOF, underneath, flat/sidelines. He's a beast. On the PTP

Who exactly THE **** is going to play TE, WR and RT here?!?!?!

BB and Second Round DB's so no TE was worth the pick. We'll be picking in the Top 10 from now on. We won't win any SB's but we'll win the Draft. This guy was overdrafted.

So will he be our counter to Kelce and the like?
