I swear people will always find something to complain about. Why not be happy for the city of Boston and New England in general for having a team in the World Series? That too difficult?

There's one key element to Pats vs. Sox popularity that a lot of people fail to take note of: Many women embrace baseball because they understand it and shy away from football for the opposite reason. I hear this time and time again from women, "I'd like to get into football but I don't understand what's going on. It just looks like a bunch of players running into each other, falling down, getting up and doing it again."

If more women understood football -- which is a more inherently exciting, colorful, emotional and action-packed sport -- I'd bet they'd choose football over baseball. The NFL, the Patriots organization and fans like us can and should do a better job of educating women about football. The best female football fans are those who grew up watching the game with fathers and brothers took the time to explain what's going on.

Excellent point and I was thinking that last night. When they did they that 8th inning "sweet caroline", I wanted to barf. You see all the pink hats and more females in attendance. As fans, baseball has been feminized. I would be embarrassed as a guy with that song and doing that little clap during their chant.

Certainly not the baseball type crowd that I grew up with.

This isn't about baseball coverage. This IS ABOUT FOOTBALL SEASON. I'm done with baseball. As far as I'm concerned the Sox took to long to finish off Cleveland. They are up 2-0 over who? Oh yeah the Rockies. Please, I could see sweep in the name alone. They have their foot on their knecks, NOW BREAK THEM AND LEAVE NO HOPE. They have no excuse for losing even one game to that team, IMHO. There is NO DOUBT in my mind who the 2007 World Series Champion is. It's only a matter of time. :rocker:

Are folks so mentally impaired that they can't maintain a conversation about more than one sport at a time? There's lots of exciting stuff happening in Boston these days. It's all worth talking about.

I hear that even the local pro football team is doing well.

It was a great comeback, but Meterparel is insufferable when it comes to Eagles talk. He is completely negative for all things Pats or Sox but when it comes to Eagles, has nothing but phony homerisms. Fortunately, he wasn't in today.

That "Sweet Caroline" thing is fundamentally symptomatic of the very strong female element in baseball. Can you imagine that and the little clap thingy, or anything like it, going on at a Pats game? Without the women at Fenway, those things just don't happen.

That being said, I personally would LOVE to see more women getting into football and have it be less segregated, and we guys only have ourselves to blame for that not happening. One aspect of that is men using football Sunday as a reason to get away from the family/wife/girlfriend for "guy time" for a day. That's understandable to a degree, but I think we have more to lose than to gain by not encouraging them to share the passion of this sport along with us.

I gotta be honest, I think more women watch football than baseball. Well, let me rephrase that and say I think more people watch football than baseball, and both are for the same reason. Football is a more exciting game to watch and only has 1/10th the amount of regular season games.

Speak for yourself buddy. That game between the Colts and Pats is going to be HUGE. Especially after what happened in the AFC Championship game. This game could determine homefield Advantage. The Sox Rule. I love em, but I love the Pats more. It's as simple as that for me. The Sox winning the World Series is a GREAT STORY. BUT you can't tell me that the Pats/Colts match up is not compelling. If we win that game, it will be the first time this season that I'll even consider the possibility of going UNDEFEATED. No one can convince me that's not a big story too. :rocker:

It's a regular season game. Period. It doesn't really determine anything. The colts could win, and lose three in the second half of the season and we still get the home field bye. Or, conversely, the same could happen with the Pats. Trust me, I'm SUPER excited (more so even for the Sox winning) but...

The Red Sox are about to win a CHAMPIONSHIP. It took 100+ games and seven months to get here. Bigger deal. Point Blank. It will be covered accordingly. Get used to it.

But as far as talk radio.....I just don't like the Soap Opera atmosphere.

does anybody esle get annoyed when dale & holley try to start some football talk and the patriots are the topic of discussion and it suddenly changes to redsox talk?the pats discussion could be good for about 10 minutes then some fool calls in and messes it all up by saying "hi guys, I just wanted to talk about the red sox,J.D. Drew in particular ". that pisses me off because I tune in for patriots talk and when the subject changes i know its never coming back .


I'm proud of boston as a sports city but we could do a little better with coverage of other teams than the sox.

I love the Patriots - always have, and never expected a Super Bowl, let alone 3... love the Celtics, always have. I've loved watching hockey - I used to watch the Bruins back in the day, and I love the Red Sox. I never thought I'd ever see them win a World Series in my lifetime, and now I may get to actually see them win a 2nd one... I ain't complaining about the Sox coverage. I'm just happy to see them in it, and I'll watch til it's over...

Your right a game that has 162 maybee even 180 games a yr to a team that may play on 19 sundays a yr, and are better athlete's , have a better quality product.. Yeah that sport with the stick and ball is better than any other product that is out there..

Yeah, it's horrible. I grew up in SW Connecticut so it was inevitable. I was physically forced to attend games in the Bronx by local community groups.

The Patriots were my AFC favorite and the Giants were my NFC team. I stopped watching the Giants after a couple of their pathetic playoff collapses, but they're getting interesting again.

I don't really care much for baseball anymore. I don't have the time to spare for a game that's so repetitious and moves like molasses. I've tried watching a couple of Sox playoff games but they're just excruciatingly slow.

Then again, I tend to watch Pats games on tape and fast forward between plays and through timeouts and commercials.
