But Brady does have a big ego.

“We’re only going to score 17 points? LOL ok”
When you are pretty much universally recognized as the greatest player of all time, there is going to be an ego to some extent. But Brady’s ego never cost them games, let alone a Super Bowl.

Yep, he never should've said that...though it still wasn't Brady's fault that they didn't score at least two more FGs that night, and that would've indeed been enough...

Let's not forgot Eli was giving them 3-4 INT's in the first half alone which the Pats couldn't take advantage of other than on their first drive. They also fumbled a few times. The Giants offense tried very hard to blow the game and the Pats let them off the hook. By far the most aggravating game I've ever watched.

People still don't realize the Chargers are the true Super Bowl MVP rolling on Brady's ankle two weeks prior to the game.

I feel for Brady, so many expect a lot from him that is not who he is. I am chief among them. I was particularly bothered by this post a few weeks ago.

Not sure what he was thinking in providing this perspective at that time, but it will not age well.
i hope he takes extra precaution with his AB love. It can get dicey for him quickly.
Good thing he has deleted this "Perspective" from his posts.

I had not seen this until now.

Yea. Tom might want a mulligan on this one

One could say that this comment did cost them the game as it wasn’t unnoticed by the Giants. His follow up “is Plaxico going to play defense?” was a middle finger to the rest of Giants defense. Didn’t end well. And the “maybe they should read the rule book” comment cost Brady and Patriots dearly in a lot of ways. Just completely unnecessary.

Are you really harping on 2comments over a 20 year career?

The Patriots had no problems with that defense a few games prior to that. Brady's comment was understandable given the history.

Well it shows Bill isn’t the only one with an ego.

Brady’s comment isn’t that different imo than what some of those Steeler players said about the early 2000s Patriots.

Holy crap...I cannot believe how terrible some fans are.

Nitpicking the career of the most unassailable athlete ever.

So spoiled, ungrateful, and just overall ****ty people.

Oh **** Tom left?

You won’t have to worry about it anymore.

Or worry about competing for championships.

Glad you won’t have to deal with a very slight out of character ****iness once in a 20-year span of nearly perfect pressers from the greatest player ever. It must have been tough for you to deal with.

I can't even begin to agree with this. It is way different. He is showing genuine surprise given what the team accomplished over the year. He was like, "Really? Come on, give us some more credit!"

there were posters here bashing Belichick for his ego letting Brady walk. I agree he has an ego. I also showed by those comments that Brady has an ego too. He said those things.

I mean... if some other QB scoffed and snickered about being held to 17 points by the Rodney Harrison era Pats I’m sure they wouldn’t have taken it well either.

Players universally love Tom.

Even guys whose tenures are disappointing love Tom.

I don’t think I’ve ever read about a player not just respecting him but truly being blown away by his personality.

Recently, James Ferentz said Tom Brady taught him how to be an adult, father, etc. Many others have echoed this, including Gronk and Edelman.

To call into question his ego or personality is absolute garbage.

Bill has a very different role on the team, and making friends with players isn’t it.

If that prediction was meant to be a trigger for a reaction that would motivate the Giants- and it probably was- mission accomplished. The right answer was “they’re a great team and they should be confident”. Which Brady did say eventually and that’s all he should have said imo.

Nobody's ego or personality should be above questioning. I was critical of Tom when he was here at times too. Doesn't make him not the GOAT or a positive influence on people.

That was an ignorant and stupid thing to say. Brady should keep his mind on football and not weigh in for topics he knows nothing about. If he keeps posting moronic comments like that I will be glad that Tampa Bay can claim him as theirs.

99% of the time when a politician talks about something other than politics and an athlete talks about something other than sports it doesn't go well.

Guys like Ben Watson, Arthur Ashe, etc are the exception.

I live in LA. Seeing how the city reacted to Kobe’s death was one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever seen. His death effectively brought the city to a standstill and at least for the next couple of weeks it was Kobe, Kobe, Kobe everywhere. Listening to LA sports radio in the days after, it was caller after caller bawling and discussing the importance of Kobe to this city. I was talking to my friend who is an all-LA sports fan (mind you, I despise every one of the teams here), about if there’s any other player living who had a similar connection to a city and whose passing would bring about a similar reaction. Our only answer that we could come up with was Tom Brady.

Now, no matter how much we love the guy and appreciate what he’s done, he’ll never have that same connection to the region like Kobe Bryant did with Los Angeles. Kobe will always be a Laker, but Brady won’t always be a Patriot. Brady threw it all away, and to what end? To be able to have fun for a year or two at the age of 42? Now, Brady doesn’t owe us anything; he’s delivered more than anyone else, but I wonder if in a couple years he looks back and wonders: was it worth it?
