The one in my sig. Look at the score, down and distance, and time remaining. That was do-or-die. They chose to do.

I would guess that play flipped win probability in that game more than any except Butler’s INT. Legendary throw, and there was that article that detailed how he looked off Wagner with other video angles. People who think Brady doesn’t have “highlight reel” plays that only he can make just don’t understand the position.

I would definitely separate the dynasty into two. That’s the legacy of these Patriots: TWO dynasties separated by ten years where they still dominated but didn’t win titles.

Outside of Brady, all different players.

2000s: Brady, Vinatieri, Light, Brown, Branch, Seymour, Bruschi, McGinest, Harrison, Vrabel

2010s: Brady, Gostkowski, White, Edelman, Amendola, Gronkowski, Wilfork, Hightower, McCourty, Gilmore

Easy call. It’s was Butler’s pick. Watch Brady on the sidelines looking absolutely defeated when Kearse did the circus catch 3.0.

Had they lost that game, who knows what would’ve happened next. There definitely would’ve been some finger pointing.

BB would've been crucified forever for not calling the timeout. No doubt. But I still think a coach needs to go with his gut instincts sometimes. He saw they were disoriented. He didn't want to let them off the hook.

It's both one dynasty but also three kind distinct periods of time. Each of them is a time period that the vast majority of franchises would have KILLED for.

Period 1 - 2001-2006
* 6 seasons
* 70-26 (.729)
* 5 division titles
* 3 SB titles
* 3 AFC titles
* Offense was much more traditional
* Old school defensive pass rules were mainly in effect
* Good offense, but stellar defense

Period 2 - 2007-2013
* 7 seasons
* 88-24 (.786)
* 6 division titles
* 0 SB titles
* 2 AFC titles
* Offense exploded into the best in the NFL
* Defense was solid but not elite

Period 3 - 2014-2019
* 6 seasons
* 74-22 (.771)
* 6 division titles
* 3 SB titles
* 4 AFC titles
* Offense elite
* Defense often elite

FTFY.

Underrated plays: Butler pushing Kearse out of bounds. And Butler breaking up a 3rd down pass to Kearse on the right sideline. 3rd quarter. Seahawks were up by ten.

Bill Belichick's eligible/ineligible receiver clowning of the Ravens. The team looked done, being down by 10 twice. The GOAT put the team on his back with his brilliance, as he usually does, and he ended up single handedly carrying the team to that pivotal win. From there, he continued to make all the right decisions that ultimately led to a SB49 win (including drilling the exact play that would end SB49 in practice) and 3 rings in 5 years.

We're lucky to have the one true GOAT.

Don't know what propelled Dynasty 2.0, but this is the play that ended it:

Maybe this should be the subject of another thread...

Agree.

But I still think a coach needs to go with his gut instincts sometimes. He saw they were disoriented. He didn't want to let them off the hook.
Video shows him watching Carroll freaking out and coaches asking him what he wanted to do. He said "I got it". While he looked like he was in "control", this still was a massive risk letting the clock run out. Had they scored, there'd be less than 20 seconds left. Not only would he have been crucified for this, but this would've been the 3rd straight time the D lost on the final drive of the Super Bowl. I think things would've been ugly.

Yeah, in case anybody didn't notice, Belichick does what he does and he doesn't care what anybody thinks. This has worked out more often than not.

It is very hard to accept the poor decisions. It's like dealing with your father.

I don't agree with "dynasty 2" nonsense... The Patriots won 3/4 super bowls, then won 3/5 super bowls...in between they won 8 division titles, went to 5 conference championship games and 2 super bowls....it's ONE dynasty, the best in modern sports history
I agree. If Coach wins another one in the next couple years, I would argue that The Dynasty remains intact. That pick though...that was special. And the back story is TRULY The Patriots Way.

Kansas City Chiefs 2014
In this game and afterwards, Brady stopped sulking and complaining about his available weapons and Oline after the Mankins trade. He was playing scared and just out of it mentally.
I also think BB's publicly praising him helped.

Did you witness him complaining and sulking?

I went with the Edelman to Amendola pass. This is almost the same as the Vinatieri field goals against Oakland. It didn't directly result in a SB win the way Butler's pick did, but after that play I had the feeling this wasn't the 2010-2013 Patriots anymore
