Is there anyway we could sign Newton?

I think cam would be great pouting on the sideline with a hurt ankle, sailing passes 30 yards over receivers and wearing ridiculous hats after a patriots lose. He is dreadful. I mean dreadful. And past his prime. So no.

Assuming Stidham is not ready to take over, I'm all for going with Cam Newton as a bridge QB. I'd rather take my chances on a former NFL MVP rather than Andy Dalton or drafting Justin Herbert.

An extra year on the bench for Stidham is only going to benefit him more, rather than throw him into the wolves. Imagine the pressure on a 23 years old QB trying to step into the shoes of the GOAT. He doesn't need this. He should be eased into the starting role.

If Cam doesn't recover his form, gets benched half-way through the season, or gets injured, we will be locked into a high draft pick. This also gives Stidham some opportunity to play without pressure to win.

The best-case scenario is that Cam Newton returns to MVP form and we will be contending for a SB.

I really don't see any issue of trading for Cam Newton.

He is my first (and really, only) choice if they are bringing in a starting QB.

Will Cam go around to a bunch of teams to figure out his market value and then tell the Patriots what he's looking for in order to begin negotiations? I understand that's their process for quarterbacks.

They can’t even give him a physical, and he’s been injured the last two years—so, no. The only way would be for him to play for backup money and that probably isn’t going to happen.

Do you really think that’s how it went down?
I wonder if we will ever know how it all layed out.

Hard no.

NO

Newton stinks

Cam is also a mediocre QB who can’t really run any more

Brady didn't want to be here. There was NO keeping him.
Disagree. First choice was here but given the roster and the input he was not getting from the team because of the state of the roster and cap limitations, there really was no alternative but to leave.

He waited as long as he could for something that was never coming.

Because it was so clear (cap and roster talent), it was pretty clear and I have no emotion attached to the decision. It is what it it is.

This team cannot currently afford a $20mm QB.

I heard the fans at Gillette booing Tom and the O last year. This was Tom Fing Brady! I can see how Newton or the Red Rifle go to NEP and get chased out of town if the O struggles.

Posters here are non stop about Brady's age. Yet, despite his age, Brady looked better than Cam because of his injuries.

Maybe they cut Stidham a break since its only his 2nd year. But he may also have a game where he gets sacked 7 times and never recovers (mentally), who knows.

I'm not expecting much this season that's for sure. It is what it is.

don't worry.......the bar has been reset

I think Brady was planning on leaving long before this week........turns out that his real estate transactions, family movement, etc were all part of the plan all along.

I think he knew what BB would do. the only thing that changed was brady...the pats did what they always did and pushed the salary down in the name of giving it to other players. BRady never won a thing being one of the top paid QB's

as for affording a 20M QB, you are only correct in that currently they can't afford a 20M cap hit

Why would we want a QB that stares at fumbles in winnable SBs with plenty of time left?

Ohhhh.....I definitely disagree with that. I don't see any proof of that being true. Nothing pointing to his first choice being here. I see alot that indicates otherwise though. I really think his first choice was to leave. Not sure if the BUCS were his first choice but they ended up being the best choice available. I strongly believe he didn't want to be here anymore for multiple reasons.

If Cam’s injury is filled healed and he had 75% of the mobility he had in his best years I think he would be a great option.

The pats could run a lot of read option to help create space for running backs. They could basically use this season as a bridge year where they plan to run Cam into the ground then move on the following year.
