Derek Rivers not giving up

Perhaps Rivers is a replacement for Calhoun. I also expect us to draft a LB and to acquire one or two in free agency. It will NOT be easy to replace the production of KVN and Collins. I guess that I'm OK with Winovich and Bentley making up for Collins. KVN will be a serious loss.

LB: Hightower, Bentley, Winovich, Roberts (we will re-sign him)
to be re-signed or replaced: KVN, Collins, Calhoun
Bentley sucks, BTW.

I still remember Crable leaping over a o lineman in Michigan and I thought he is going to be a freak.
The scout that touted Crable deserved to lose his job....
And BB taking his advice?.... temporary brain cramp... had to be
Stick legs on a front 7 player? Novel idea until he’d tangle with surging OL who'd drive him backwards 5 yds at will. Never seen anything like it. The man could not hold his ground.

One of the great whiffs in the BB era that rarely gets mentioned. Given all the 2nd round whiffs that have riled up the fan base, I guess 3rd round NE busts just quietly fade from our stream of consciousness

Tyrone McKenzie (3rd round) and Jermaine Cunningham (2nd round) are two prime examples of higher round LBs who never amounted to anything in the pros.

Shoot, it may have even been the same scout as Crable.

Speaking of "giving" Derek Rivers should give back money based on playing time or lack their of.

That will happen right after Goody & the 32 start giving more money to players who perform better than their contracts.

How's your boy Jimmy G?
And you're just as awful. Remember when you thought Danny Shelton was a game changer and the next Wilfork?

you think the NFL is at the level of governments in terms of subterfuge and espionage?

always wondered if teams had a deep bench of loyal scouts etc that they send out to infiltrate other franchises front offices and then slowly sink them with terrible draft choices, etc

it would be easier to stomach some of these drafts if this were the case

Or you could just accept that if the process were that easy, the players would always be picked in the precise order of their talent and impact. The Patriots are far from the only team that has busts in the 2nd round and beyond. Many have busts in the top ten, where it should be like shooting cake in a barrel.

I was mostly joking, but yea I understand it’s not an easy process.. just getting a bit anxious seeing so many picks lately be squandered. We desperately need an injection of young talent on rookie deals and the draft is the only way to accomplish that, so we gotta start hitting on some of these picks

Remember the early 2000’s drafts? We were getting like 6 starters per draft, they were hitting it out of the park nearly every year in all the top rounds

You said Jimmy was a legit QB.

He clearly inst anything more than an inconsistent game manager.
You couldn't diagram an NFL play if your life depended on it so I'm not sure you're qualified to make those claims.

What's worse about the Chicken Legs pick is that the physically superior, more highly-regarded Cliff Avril (from Perdue, which had a reputation of developing 3-4 OLBs back then) was ripe for the picking.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but this is feeling like Shawn Crable all over again.

To the surprise of many Avril dropped to the 6th or 7th round? Character concerns? He was definitely well scouted on the draft forum.
