Roger Goodell: NFL still investigating Patriots for videotaping Bengals sideline
Goodell was asked the status of the investigations and why it’s taken the league so much time considering the Patriots already admitted wrongdoing by the three-person video crew. Shouldn’t this case be open and shut?

“The answer to that (last) question is no. It shouldn’t because our responsibility is to make sure we’re being extremely thorough,” Goodell said at a press conference in Miami. “We have a responsibility to 31 other clubs, we have a responsibility to partners, we have a responsibility to fans understand all of what happened, and to make sure that something that we don’t know happened didn’t happen. And so, from our standpoint we want to make sure we are being thorough.”

Translation: The NFL is not done fishing for evidence

We want to make sure we are being thorough in this case because it's the Pats. If it were any other team we would have wrapped it up in a day or two (see: Bluetooth Gate). Interesting that the Ravens offense got shut down the game after that was discovered.

They’re getting “frustrated” that there’s no link found to the football team. Says it all.

If they steal anymore resources from this team BB should go nuclear.
God knows Kraft won’t

My best guess is that the NYNFL is contacting all 31 other teams to see if the Pats did some sort of scouting documentary in their stadium...

Seconded. There have been a dozen random “scandals” the past few years that were all resolved in a matter of days (Steelers practice violations, Giants walkie talkie, etc). Our current situation can now be measured on the level of MONTHS. This is absolutely ridiculous.

What a chode Goodell is.

This one is so much harder for them to play with the variables ...

Because there aren't any .... screw them.

If they really want to punish us then fine Kraft for the handy.

There wasn't much to spygate, literally a matter of camera location, but the furor over an investigation that was handled in such a cavalier fashion resulted in the punishment being draconian . There was absolutely nothing to deflategate but the backlash over the Spygate investigation meant that any new one had to be so thorough that the laws of physics could be refuted. So here we are, between the devil and the deep blue sea , waiting on that 3rd strike.

It is beyond ridiculous to think anything of any import was being surreptitiously filmed from the press box. But not as silly as anyone thinking if someone as smart as Belichick was ever going to cheat he'd be caught by the Bungles doing it.

Anyone else not giving this much mental thought until it actually happens?

I just don’t have the energy for it. I’m going along as if nothing is going to happen. If something happens, it’s bullsh!t but whatever.

Clearly waiting until after SB. Investigation has been over, report probably sitting on a guys desk waiting for a sig.

I think it’s more probable than not that he’s full of BS saying investigation isn’t over.

The investigation is probably in the capable hands of Ted Wells. Any day now, Ted
will announce there is a 2% chance the Patriots did some thing wrong and our #1
draft pick will disappear along with 1 million dollars.

In the thread about the ESPN deflategate article, someone mentioned that Wells is representing Exxon right now, arguing that oil spills don't harm the environment.

Ideally, NE would lose every single pick in the next ten drafts & have a salary cap of 85% of the limit.

Then, we could sit back and watch BB win the SB with a crew of competent UFAs and second tier FAs.

But yet the sheep will keep coming back, keep watching the pro bowl, keep buying concessions, keep buying NFL crap... people here will still keep buying their Patriots pajamas, their Bob Kraft Plush Toys with Happy Ending Action, and their NKeal Harry Fatheads...
