I know family must be informed first ... but it does seem odd.

How is it odd when it's very possible that people are at the scene doing the reporting vs. people talking to the helicopter company? And the helicopter company may not be forthcoming with the information due to the privacy of the client. You also have that there isn't necessarily a "manifest" the way there is with Airlines.

I read a story a few years back about how Kobe and his Wife had separate helicopters to go to events/places so if the helicopter went down, the kids wouldn’t be left with no parents. If I remember correctly, he went everywhere in a helicopter. This is just mind numbing, and tragic. Live life the same way you do everyday and just like that, you’re gone. RIP Kobe and all others lost in the wreck, and I hope the family and friends can find a way to grieve in private.

Horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to his other 3 daughters and his wife.
They lost a daughter/sister and dad/husband.
My twins are almost same age as Gianna.
Unbearable grief losing a child- especially when they are still a child.
