Tanking for Trevor

It worked out so great for the Colts with Manning and Luck.

I can see Roger taking the pick away if we tried because #integrity

If the other night was any indication, that guy is not Andrew Luck. He was horrible.

Bill isnt gonna tank on purpose but if he hands the keys to someone with the offense he gave brady this past year people in for a rude surprise

If they can pull it off.. sign me up

Sounds a lot like Andrew Luck.

No. It really doesn’t work. For every ONE great pick; there are hundreds of horror stories.

Win or build towards winning. Don’t “bet on a golden boy”. Sends a bad message. Team > individual.

I said it half in jest, but based on the entire career of Luck compared to his expectations and what they gave up for him, he did suck. He was a basically a pro bowl (but not all-pro) level quarterback who was good but not without pretty big flaws. Turned the ball over a lot and always got hurt due to his stubborn style. Lacked killer instinct and didn’t do everything he could to win like another #12. Seemed more interested in his book club. These are just things you can’t predict about a 22 year old kid.

Sure, I’d take him if I were most franchises. But there have been better QBs drafted since Luck, and wasn’t even the best QB of his class when healthy (that would be Wilson, the third round pick.) So moving on from Peyton Manning for a prospect, no matter, how great he was projected to be, was a losing move. It just shows that none of these college guys are that predictable. I think Lawrence looks like one of the better prospects I’ve seen. I still wouldn’t be surprised at all if he face plants. It’s such a crapshoot. Meant to include @Tottie

Imagine what the Colts would have been like if they’d traded that #1 overall pick and gotten an insane draft haul, and had Manning for 3-4 more years.

Lawrence is the best qb prospect I have ever seen in college, not named Peyton.

he is amazing and I would be all for tanking for him,

but I am 100 percent certain bb is super high on stidham.

He was playing against an undefeated opponent, it was his first loss as a college QB, and it was in his second title game. I don't think there's a single personnel man in football who will take it as anything more than just the wrong time to have a flat performance.

No thanks

He looked like he was seeing ghosts. I only watch 2 games a year so I have no idea really. Maybe the QB on the other side throwing darts, getting the ball out under pressure made him look bad. Maybe it was the hippy hair?

Link: Tank for Trevor Lawrence? If Tom Brady leaves, the answer is, 'Yes'

LOL. There is absolutely no chance whatsoever Bill will look to add a 0 or 1 win season to his resume.

Now if Bill AND Brady leave then the door opens.
One idea needs to get floated to Belichick: a sabbatical. He gets to take a year off to travel Europe and tailgate at Alabama football games while an interim coach struggles to a 1-15 record. When Belichick returns, he gets to use the #1 pick on a guy like Lawrence and coach him up after a year's rest. All of this without having to endure the ignominy of the awful season that would cause a nervous breakdown.

If a flat 2017 season and a permanently flat head didn’t cause scouts to sound the sirens on Sam Darnold, then I don’t think one flat performance from Lawrence will do anything at all.

I’d like to see Lawrence have the “Michael Phelps disrespected by that other dude” face though.

I'm sure he suffered in comparison to Burrows' great night. But he'd have been the #1 pick last year. He'd be the #1 pick this year. And, if he doesn't get hurt or crap the bed, he'll be the #1 pick next year.
