Thoughts on Seattle’s decision to punt with under 3 minutes left?

Right call in my mind. 4th and a 11 is no easy task. 3 TO’s and a 2 minute warning. Decent field position.

If your Defense does it job you get the ball back with 2 minutes and a TO in your pocket.

The league really wants it's KC/GB rematch for the 100. That's why they punted.

I would definitely look for an O-Line replacement. That unit has been terrible, and Wilson is my 2nd favorite behind Brady in the NFL. If we got to pick who we'd want, it'd be a toss up between him and Mahomes but honestly, Wilson has done it longer and with not as an all-star receiver cast. He elevates those around him it seems.
Definitely have fix those weak links on the OL. It's a catch 22 though I guess bc Wilson just doesn't exchanging sacks big plays. They absolutely have to improve where they can.
I'd love to see them get a legit pass catching RB that could make a few plays downfield. Another TE. Definitely another impact CB. I could see them trading for one this off-season.

You don't go for it on 4th and 11. Get the ball back and win.

Ahhh not the real ones @cmasspatsfan . Call her Mrs McClane bc she's a diehard.

What’s the last thing she’s yelling? I’ve listened to it three times and can’t understand her. This is the chick that said something like (paraphrasing) “Brady has 6, but that was over the course of his whole career,” and “we’ll see how many Patrick has when he’s that age.”

Hindsight. I don't see how you can sit there and downplay the 11 yards he had to get. FAR from a guarantee. Regardless of how well he was playing. It's not like they just needed 2-5 yards. 11 yards is never a gimme. I don't care how well the QB is playing.

Either way there's a risk involved. I don't think either decision would have been terrible. They still had two chances to get 3rd down stops and couldn't do it. That is why they lost. Or a big reason anyway.

Yea she's annoying but his brother is something else lol.

Think she's yelling "guess again" at the end

She said Brady is 42...just wait til' my guy reaches that age and we'll see how many super bowls he gets

She won't be 'his girl' by then the way she's going so it won't matter much to her. Maybe she can hook up with his brother and they can go be stupid on an island somewhere.

Reminds me a bit (not overwhelmingly) of the infamous 4th and 2 decision in 2009. Had Belichick punted and Manning still marched right down the field to win, I wonder if people would have complained that he should have gone for it. Obviously 10 years makes a big difference in the context of NFL decision making.

The difference to me on the 4th and 2 play was what took place before the 4th down. On 3rd and 2 the Pats used their last timeout and then threw an incomplete pass, stopping the clock with a little over 2 minutes left. Then when they passed it again on 4th down and "failed" they didn't have a timeout for a challenge and there was too much time left for a replay by the NYFL. It looked like Faulk may have made the 1st down.

All 'Monday morning' coaching notwithstanding, other than the time dithered away between the 3rd down sack (3:22 left) & the punt (2:41 left) Carroll made the right decision in that spot. Making the correct decision and it not working out in your favor are not mutually exclusive occurrences. Sometimes the other guy gets it right, we call that football.

She is a doosh.

Im sick of her and Mahomes already. Mohomes is on tv selling auto insurance, groceries, shampoo, furniture, jewelry, banking services. Its beyond ridiculous. He has already been referred to as the GOAT. You can buy ketchup and cereal paying homage to the Great One.

If it was more manageable like 4th and 7 or less id probably go for it. Both defenses were bad in the 2nd half, stops were at a premium

The play that made it a really no-win situation for Seattle was when Hollister whiffed on the block and RW didn't throw the ball away and takes a 6 yard sack on 3rd down. If RW throws it away then they easily go for it on 4th down. Those are the kind of plays Patriots fans will have to get used to once TB moves on/retires. Damn, we are spoiled.

That chick is bargain bin material when it comes to the type of tail someone with any sort of fame can get.

I can't blame any new QB for taking advantage when he has the chance. A QB's life can be short. Plus, Mahomes seems to be a pretty decent kid.

It's a little different for successful older players though. Seeing guys like Rodgers and Manning squeeze every penny they can out of us, after making hundreds of millions, kind of bothers me.

As for the topic of the thread, I think that the 11 yards turned it into an automatic punt. Pete was right again. ;)

I watched the video and liked her.

Didn't like it one bit.

If Pom Pom had the 2013 D I can see punting.

I bet BOB would have punted as well.

Not Pete Carroll's best moment, but you must admit that it wasn't as bad as throwing a pass on 2nd and Goal at the 1 with 26 seconds left in the Super Bowl.
