A look at potential coaching changes across the NFL
The Panthers are off and running on their search, and they've interviewed former Packers coach Mike McCarthy not once, but two times. From what it sounds like, he did very well. The team also intends to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Baylor coach Matt Rhule, while Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy should also get a look among others. Worth noting: general manager Marty Hurney is heavily involved in the interview process, indicating he's safe, though his title potentially could change with a new personnel hire.

If I’m the Jaguars, I’m firing Marrone and Caldwell immediately after the game today and getting McDaniels on the horn to help develop Minshew.

Breer: 50/50 chance McDaniels leaves for one of these teams
So what odds would Breer give for McDaniels to leave New England?

50/50. I would say that right now, it's going to be based on one of those two teams giving him an offer. If the Carolina Panthers or Cleveland Browns give him an offer, set things up the way he wants it, I think that he goes to one of those two teams.

The guy from Baylor has been successful in taking programs that have stunk and making them better. Did it at Temple and at Baylor.

No question.

I wonder if Caserio is part of the package

If I was an owner : I want both. I think they are a combo that greatly enhances one another. Give them 5-6 years each. Throw money. And back the F off.

I might just want Caserio honestly. McDaniels' body of work outside New England has never impressed me, and I see no reason to believe him being a HC isn't just the Peter Principle at work.

Maybe I'm missing something, but as long as Haslam owns the Browns, that job is toxic. Haslam's management style ends up undermining everyone that works for him (see link below).

Inside the Browns' front office, where hope and history collide

The Carolina job, however, working for Tepper, might be the best situation in the league & would be ideal for Josh. In fact, Caserio/McDaniles working under Tepper would effectively move the Patriots dynasty to the NFC with a more stable and rationale ownership...

I AM just currious what really has changed McDaniels mind to abandon job in Indy. What BB told or promised him and how IT will affect Josh' decision after the end of this season.

McD is older. Just like BB was older when he came over.

He made mistakes. He’s a sharp dude. He’s not going to make the same ones.

Same.

But the rise of Mayo/Little Steve has me thinking they’ll be ready for primetime when BB makes the permanent move to the boat (hopefully X rings by then).

Remember how the media said McDaniel's head coaching career outside of NE was over after he ditched the Colts.

Any chance that Jerruh holds a presser < one week from now to introduce Skippy as his new HC?

Why does little Steve remind me of Joaquin Phoenix in one of those disturbed movie roles?

.

It seems tome that Josh might stay around if he knows he gets to take over from Bill. I know that his wife has stated a couple times that she doesn't want to move again, and likes it in New England.

With Bill & Brady leaving at some point, New England still has a solid foundation and it'd be a lot more like to have success under Josh, with the current crop of assistants than with an outsider moving in.

We had our friend @AndyJohnson telling us every year for like 5 years now that McDaniels should never refuse a job. And yet every year he is among the top of the list when it comes to HC hires.

Figures.

Even as the offense becomes a problem.

Fortunately some of the owners look past stats and narratives and actually look into what is happening.

This may be his best year.
