Bump.

How is that “competition” working out so far? :(

It wasn't working badly until Folk had an emergency appendectomy.

Might one of best "fail" threads in the last couple of years. Posters got exactly what they asked for.

Well, to be fair, a lot of the competition people started up after Ghost started having issues this fall, which I imagine were tied into his physical ailment. However, the people that have been yelling at the Pats to replace him for the last few years, well, go suck an egg.

Yes it was. Nugent sucked. Folk sucked.

Look around the NFL. Not many great kickers. In fact, there are none outside of Justin Tucker.

Folk missed two FG attempts beyond 40 in horrible weather. He made his other 7 attempts and all his PATs. He's not a great kicker but I'm not sure where you are going to find that.

Re-sign Folk as soon as he’s ready.

That's the point though, there aren't a lot of great kickers, but some were convinced Gostkowski was terrible and could be easily replaced. It didn't happen.

I think they meant competition during the off-season not mid way through the regular season.

That's true. There are worse kickers. Wasn't Gost dealing with an injury too?

Robbie Gould was all the rage a few years ago and this year he's missed 8 FGAs. Go figure.

I'm pretty sure they knew Forbath was a just a temp fill in, I mean, they didn't even bother trying to find him a helmet that fit.

The problem with folk is his max kick is like 46 yards. He only missed 2 but the ones he made were mostly chip shots and we passed up a lot of FGs that were makable because his range is awful.

True. And that's most of the kickers in the NFL. He's accurate inside the 40 and many kickers aren't. So I'm not seeing an alternative here.

probably about the same as if Gostkowski were still on the active roster.

I get where people were coming from in terms of Ghost but the point always was that despite his issues in the past years he was still performing at a high level and certainly higher than anyone off the streets.

Years of Vinatieri and Ghost have made some a bit entitled when it comes to kicking so going through the cluster**** that is this year might bring them back down to be a bit more reasonable. Hopefully.
