Suggestions for Dressing for Gillette in a Downpour

My suggestion.
1) Dress like it's winter...cold weather gear
2) Poncho is the best thing in rain like this (decent poncho, not 2 dollar throw away)
3) Baseball cap with bill to keep rain off face if not coming down straight.
4) dry shoes for after the game and extra wool socks

I've been to plenty of rainy/snowy games and that's how I go after learning through misery.
oh, and consider bringing a blanket. Been a lifesaver on those playoff games. Even if you don't use it, keep in car or sit on it. I have a wool military blanket issued to me back over 30 years ago and I told my wife that I want to be buried with it because it's saved my life many times. Still have my original issue blanket and poncho liner and wool wears well when wet.

Stay healthy and safe, fans!

Don't wear any cotton, especially for the base layers. It's gonna be wet and cold, wear polypro
and/or wool. You may get wet, but if you layer properly and put on just the right buzz, the weather won't matter.

Actually, when it's cold and wet, I wear a t-shirt, boxers, wool socks, sweatpants and a hoodie (zip-front) and a watch cap. THEN I pull on some rain pants, and my poncho and woobie. With some boots, it keeps me warm and dry, and if I get too warm, I can unzip the hoodie

Also, I can wear some of those brown cotton work gloves for my hands.

What's the purpose of the boxers?

Layers are critical. You seem to have it down. Just make sure you have a good GoreTex shell. And boots.

Edit to add Darn Tough wool socks.

Dress in layers, its going to be chilly. Find an Army-Navy store and buy yourself a full rain outfit (pants, jacket with hood)....I bought a nice rubberized there one from Carhartt a couple of year ago. Good quality Gore-tex shell (jacket) and unlined goreTex ski pants would work as well, although in a downpour I prefer the rubberized outfit. Also wear rubber or gore-tex boots with wool socks.

Then be prepared to sweat your balls off when it the actual weather warmer and dryer than the forecast.

I won't be at the game but I will be at a freaking soccer field for 3.5 hrs in the Merrimack Valley area.

Rain boots w/ wool socks
Under Armor long sleeve t-shirt, BB hoodie circa 2003.
Golf rain jacket and pants.
coffee

That'll do.

To judge by what it's like at 11 a.m., "dry and warm" is going to be the least of the problems!

This kind of helps the Browns more than the Pats. Does it not? Cleveland is very good at running the ball. Pats? Not so much. In a rain storm it's very difficult to pass.

Sorry, Chiefs can't gain this week. The Pats' D will feast in the rain.

My point is Mayfield isn't going to be airing it out 30 + times today. That's where the defense would feast most. Not saying they can't stop Chubb. They can. I'm simply saying they would get more turnovers if Mayfield was passing it a bunch of times.

They are in trouble if they are down 10 early.

The route tree the Pats run is conducive to rain/snow games. Brady has had some decent games in adverse conditions because of this. Once the Pats are up 10-0 or 14-0, the Brownies will start passing.

No doubt the Browns will have the odd success running the ball, but they won't win the game running 40 times.

Agreed.

Full suit of rain gear? Small umbrella (will have one anyway for walking to the car)? Poncho?
Or just t-shirt and shorts - if they can tough it out, so can I.
Really good rain gear. Not the stuff that bleeds through. If you use a poncho make sure you bring a bag in to cover from your thighs down when you sit. Snow boots. They do not allow umbrella in or to be opened up during the game
