He can become a snowbird and enjoy year round great weather and no state tax. Florida has great weather starting from the end of October until the end of April (6 months) and MA has nice weather from May until the end of October. As long as he spends less than 183 days a year in MA he can claim Florida as his residency state and avoid the MA state income tax.

1) Brady means to settle family business with a perfect season this year
2) Brady wants to prove he can win the Super Bowl on two different teams like Peyton, too. And that he isn't just a system quarterback.

It's actually so obvious in retrospect that the criticisms we end up arguing against to defend him are the same ones that would drive his competitive nature in the end.

Just based on the facts there aren't that many good teams out there who are going to want to build around a 43 year old QB. If Brady is leaving for money, that means another team is going to have to pay him more than the Pats and the only team outside of NE that would do this would be a pretty desperate team. There's no point in bringing a 43 year old Brady into anything other than a "win now" scenario for a season or two and what team fits that? He has to learn a completely different system, with a completely different roster and a completely different locker room. He'd retire before attempting it and he's not going to go play for the Dolphins.

What if Brady is offered $120m guaranteed for next 3 years (Same rate as Mahomes). Pats offer $25m for 1 year. What should he do? It's a hypothetical but $100m isn't chump change for even Brady.

If he were offered $120m guaranteed, you'd have to let him walk. While he is still a top-tier quarterback, Brady is very slowly declining the past year or two to the point he's not playing at the level of a healthy Mahomes right now. He's worth $25m for a year or $45-50m for two. But to pay him $40m per season is overpriced now and will be obscene if his level of play continues to decrease. Remaining a Patriots also means he can make some profit back through endorsements and being a fixture around New England events that leaving would -- to some degree -- sour.

I guess the question is where Brady's heart is at. He wouldn't make as much in New England but would protect his legacy by remaining with the team. If he leaves, as has been discussed elsewhere, he'd be working with a new offense that could hurt his productivity and result in further injuries that make his brain mush. It all come down to whether Brady values legacy and health more than another mansion or three.

Brady's been taking a home team discount for years. Why, in the twilight of his career during which he is the least able to adapt to new situations would he suddenly became a mercenary for hire? Unless something heinous went on behind closed doors, I'm not sure that I see him changing his mindset at this point in his career.

For Bill, he must believe having an elite defense and Brady coaching up a revolving door of guys has a better shot of winning a championship than engaging primarily in an offensive arms race with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brady is the GOAT. But he isn't the best quarterback in the league anymore. Having a great defense and special teams unit, however, can do a lot to overcome not having a healthy Patrick Mahomes on our roster.

Not saying Brady is leaving, but to think that « good teams » don’t want a 43 year old Brady... How would CHI look w that D and TB12 ? How about BUF ? Brady can play in those climates and is a proven winner who people want to follow. He could change the culture. Never discount the willingness to « trade the farm » when it comes to winning even ONE SB... Pretty sure CHI would pay 120M$ for years of Brady, even if they thought it’d only lead to one SB and years of mediocre play.

Let’s not ignore costs of assembling elite pieces/ weapons for the offense. Quality TEs are a rare commodity that rarely if ever shake loose from NFL teams and are usually scarce by the time NE drafts at #32. Elite WRs without warts cost $15+ mill per year but touch the ball on an average of 6 times per game. And pedestrian LTs that flash for a year get record contracts.
On the other side of the ball Bill has being collecting short term veteran quality at reasonably low cost. Collins, KVN, McCourty #2, etc.
Bill is getting value in the D market when none exists in the O market.
It’s not as if Bill is ignoring the offense.... #1’s at LT, RB, and WR in the past 3 drafts

I agree with you, but what is funny:

• 1st Rd WR yet to play a game
• 3rd Rd RB with no meaningful snaps
• AB lasted 1 game and is out (killed cap)
• DT never played
  
• Sanu just arrived after jettison of JG
• Ben released to keep 2 TE with no meaningful production.
• 3 TEs: 2 on bench, 1 is a FB

TB has 11 TD passes (16 last year - 31% drop). It is what it is.
