So far he's a bit under the radar but he's following up a brilliant preseason performance by being a very consistent threat in pressuring the QB when called upon.

Winovich is averaging nearly a sack per game and exactly one QB hit per game, has been getting pressure even when he isn't getting sacks. At least a couple times a game you'll see him explode through unprepared offensive lines, catch his blocker napping and either hurry the QB or force them to scramble into another defender

For a rookie edge rusher that's really impressive. If he can stay healthy this kid has a bright future in a Patriots uniform

yep

Take that, Winovich deniers.

there was one play where he got ****ing destroyed toward the end of the game.

he gonna need to be tougher than that at some point

I predicted 6 sacks...he's going to end up with 8-10 at this rate. It's mostly his high motor that's getting those sacks...he'll need more skill as opposing teams start paying more attention to him. He's doing great.

There were no real deniers. Everyone knew that Winovich would contribute. At the moment he's contributing at a higher level than expected for a rookie edge rusher, which I thought deserved a bit of focus

I know nobody really doubted him but he's playing like a veteran out there and I feel it deserves some recognition

I meant it more like you could read the thread title as being like, proof Bigfoot exists.

If he gets 10-12 sacks he'd be a shoo-in for DROY.
That might be exactly what winds up happening. He keeps making a few explosive plays a game, he's gonna be in the running

I'd just like to thank the Jets for selecting Jachai Polite at #68 for their edge rusher. If not for their ineptness we'd never have been able to pick Winovich at #77.

Meanwhile Polite was one of the biggest busts in a long time as he failed to make the Jets' roster despite being an early 3rd round pick.

Jets releasing third-round linebacker Jachai Polite

Thanks Jets!

For a rookie to come in and already be prime of career Tully Banta Cain is a real good return on that draft pick.

He'll grow into being a monster in a couple of years. I love the apprenticeship he's doing now.

I love that he is from Pittsburgh

His freaking motor is unreal.

Hope he can expand on his role beyond an ears-back pass rusher (not that there is anything wrong with that)

It makes me sad for you that you felt a need to explain that. You gotta get out of Texas man
