Bring in competition at Kicker.

Where are all the Ghost Koolaid drinkers today?

Missed XP again & Belichick decides to go for a 4th and 8 instead of letting him kick a 52 yard field goal.

It’s the not kicking a field goal that really bothers me. Reminiscent of the 2007 Super Bowl. In this day and age, a 50 yarder isn’t such a big deal. Ghost makes the extra point and a field goal, this game isn’t tense.

That mixed xp had the potential to cost us the game today.

I'd love to bring competition in, but whom? Some Central American former soccer player named Ricardo? Unfortunately, I think team must ride w Gostowski

Yea, but the doubters are all whiners, while the hanger ons yell foul, foul.

Double down or bust.
Lol.

Seriously, I hope Ghost gets it together .
I like the guy, and we need him at his peak with this offense .

This is what we're stuck with for now.

Buffalo wins that game with a TD. And it's all because of Gost. This is now a serious issue.

Gostkowski is struggling, no doubt about it. And I have no issue with Belichick bringing in someone for a tryout. As others have said though, I'm not sure we'll find someone better at this point.

But your comment is the problem. If Buffalo scores a TD and we lose 17-16, Gostkowski certainly has a hand in the loss, I will never dispute that.

But the offense had one of their worst games of the Belichick era, and it would have required the defense, after playing a great game, allowing a backup QB to go down and score with the game on the line. Yet because of a missed XP with 52 minutes left, the loss would have been "all because of Gost?"

Again, I'm not now nor have I ever claimed Gostkowski is perfect and blameless and doesn't need to start doing a hell of a lot better very quickly. I just wish people would stop looking at the one point in the final score and blaming all losses/potential losses totally on him.

If you compared what might have happened today to a basketball game: we shot 3/28 from beyond the 3 point line, 34% shooting overall, blew a 7 point lead with a minute left in the game, lost by 1, and you blame the loss entirely on the guy that missed a free throw when the score was 8-4.

Again, I'm not calling for Gostkowski's exit from this team. But how the **** is anyone going to deny there's a problem now?

Edit: I used the same rhetorical structure as the post above mine but it wasn't on purpose/to be snarky.

Not excuses. Fact. I know you have trouble with them.
Did you have trouble with the fact that Gost missed again, or were you not sweating out that extra point like emotional people like me for the entire game? Asking for a friend.

I've been in the Gost camp all season and will continue to be as long as he doesn't cost us a game but even then...sh!t happens. That being said...

Jake Bailey
  • Played at Santa Fe Christian (Calif.) and connected on 12-of-16 field goals – including 54-yarder – as a senior. Also made 26-of-27 extra points.
  • Made three field goals of 50 or more yards and 40 touchbacks on 47 kickoffs as a senior.

It’s understandable to fault kickers because they have one job and it happens just a few times a game. Almost all other positions are multifaceted. Yes, Brady threw a pick but he throws 50 times a game, gets hit, read defenses and sometimes even runs. It’s an apples to oranges comparison. Ghost should be compared with other kickers, he’s the best we can have right now.

Yeah as heard it may have to do with an injury there with him.

Did they delete Brady throwing a pick in the end zone?
On the only real drive they had all game. 16 plays, 93 yards more than 8 minutes. Even he throws it away, it's a 20 yard field goal, makes it 16-0. It's a big difference. Never mind Brady having 2 guys open for a TD on the play. Guess the triple-covered Edelman on the back line looked best to him.

This is what I’m saying at this point. I don’t know if we can find anyone better right now but there is clearly an issue. It has to be getting harder and harder for the posters in his corner to keep whistling past the graveyard.

He is going to cost us a game here at some point. Yesterday if Bills get a TD on that last drive...that would have been 1. And if it comes in the KC game or fighting for Home field..I will lose it.

There's really no one else out there but man...when it comes to the final kick and one of these games it may...I will be sh****** myself

Although there is clearly an issue with Gost, he is also a person and not a statistic. BB has gotten rid of players who are detrimental to overall team success; see Collins. It’s a little different with a kicker, especially one who has been an integral part of the team for so long. We also don’t know what is really going on internally. But yeah, the changing of the guard is gonna happen soon, perhaps in this draft.

Are we sure it's not the new holder that is having issues and are just blaming it all on Ghost?

Couldn't hurt to give her a looksy, even if it was just for publicity.
