Like the other guy said, no police reports. Let that sink in. Yeah he's illiterate and uneducated and maybe that factors into the perception of him but at the end of the day he's innocent until proven guilty. If I got accused of something I didn't do i'd be pretty heated myself. He did this through a text message. How many people tee off verbally in public because of they were told they did something wrong when they didn't or for whatever reason?

He certainly is guilty of unpaid bills and sending harassing, manipulative texts to one of these women.

Just because a formal police report/criminal process hasn't been initiated doesn't mean a crime was not committed, nor does it mean Brown's behavior has been entirely ethical and upstanding.

And the whole "innocent until proven guilty" notion applies to a criminal proceeding. The public is, and always has been, free to reach whatever conclusions they please. Likewise, employers are also free to reach whatever conclusions they please and have tremendous leeway to release an employee they no longer want to associate with.

And I can assure that I would also have an unfavorable opinion of anyone who has done the things Brown has, even if they had a fortunate upbringing, and were literate and articulate. In fact, I feel quite bad for Brown because he clearly had a rough childhood and wasn't afforded a meaningful education.

You missed my point. He is playing dumb. He can claim he copied his attorney (privileged) so his intent was for this to never come out, but he knew it would come out. He set-up SI to do his dirty work for him:
1. Publish the women's photo (outing her);
2. Include the fact mural was in his room (not part of original story).
Accidental text on purpose, AB a big Larry David fan?

Yes, I want Brown here.

You know what else I want?

1- stop trying legal matters in the press;

2- the NFL to refrain from intervening until the legal matter is resolved.
I admit totally that the American media is insane and totally out of control.

But of course a free and unfettered press is always key to liberty!

An arrest is based on a warrant which is based on proof.

Believe it or not police don't just go arresting people for no reason. Right now the accusations against AB haven't even passed the warrant phase.

When they have enough proof to charge AB with a crime, then we'll see what the Pats FO does.

If AB were arrested for rape, half this board would still be screaming “innocent until proven guilty”

Yeah and that’s totally not how I used the word.

(sigh) But it is in fact what the word means.
A simple 'DOH' would have sufficed but whatever. Having now ventured into the murky waters of going two posts deep in this discussion common knowledge dictates it is time to back away and allow you to declare victory before it becomes...

AB is ruining my enjoyment of this football season. Instead of hearing about the Patriots, their defense, and matchups, I hear about AB all the faulking time, its AB 24/7. I am sick of it. I want to hear about football, not a faulking soap opera.

For the purpose of comparison, right now there's more evidence in favor of kicking Patrick Chung off the team than AB. And I say that as a definite Patrick Chung fan who's fully aware of his massive contributions last year in the Superbowl.
it's really not about anything other than what Kraft and Belichick feel about it at this point honestly.

50/50 that the league steps in and takes the burden of action from them, also 50/50 they decide enough is enough

Belichick doesn't want to cut AB just so the Chiefs can sign him. Either AB plays for the Pats, or the league makes it so AB plays for NOBODY and the Pats maybe get out of paying him. It wouldn't surprise me if he'd be fine with either one at this point.

Everything you said is correct imo.

BUT I think we are moving into the realm of Belichick starting to think it might not be worth it. (I don't know for sure, he may be all about the TDs etc, but at some point it won't be about whether something is criminal or not, it will be about this guy is not "best for the team". That may eventually be what Bill decides quite possibly)

I think bill will stick with him until it all goes away. Days have passed since the alleged accuser and nothing. The nfl has nothing! This is nothing as well just trying to stir the pot and see if the guy goes crazy. Belichick should tell him listen they’re trying to get you riled up. Just be silent and you will be ok.

OP this is a great idea for a poll by the way, so far results are about what I’d expect.

No that's different. If he's actually arrested for rape then cut his ass. Right now its a civil suit that has inaccuracies of where it was filed. She claimed Miami Dade and it was really in Broward. Then there were inaccuracies of what she wanted. At first 75k was the initial story now its 2 million and Brown refused to settle. Damn, I know if I was guilty as hell and had millions I'd settle to keep this swept under the rug.

Post of the week on this topic...nice job

Until something, anything, is actually proven, nothing should happen to Brown. He's a good football player. We know about the head issues. If he's willing to tune out the world and just play football he'll fit here. If not, and by that I mean if he's PROVEN that he isn't prepared to embrace the Patriot Way, he's gone.

One of the reasons this charade might actually work out is that we don't actually need AB. He's got no leverage and he knows it. He's GOT to make good or his career is practically done. Hopefully he understands that and is prepared to play ball and put the drama aside.

As for the various accusations floating around... even if I believe them (and to a point I actually do) Nothing should happen to anyone on the basis of an accusation. Accusation is not proof. When and if there's proof, then the team will act, just like it did with Aaron Hernandez. Right now the best possible action is not to act.

We’ve seen AB act like a complete petulant child before any of this lawsuit even became known. Do we want association with that character any longer? Or are we still stuck in the “every1 is haterz” mindset and act like he’s done no wrong?

Gee, what do YOU think?

Last night Eric B and Rakim played at the Wilbur in Boston. I bought tickets but couldn't go because of a work event. I did see them in April 2018 though and they were awesome.

Anyway, maybe this is not the same Eric B.
Definitely not AB's Eric B, who was busy thinking of a master plan...

Regards
Chris

Are a lot of you willing to stand by Brown and defend him until this clears up, one way or the other?

I'm not sure that I (or many others) want to actively defend and stand by him in any serious way. I'm more optimistically hoping things work out

You're clearly gaslighting (which to me is very unseemly).

If you think I should apologize for saying in response to your comments on Hill that a lot of the posters on this board were in favor of his suspension, you really should reevaluate. Your arguments are juvenile and laughable. I'm done with your nonsense.

P.S. making broad assumptions about me based on one disagreement is the ultimate example of gaslighting. Just calling a spade a spade.

All I asked from you was a retraction/amended post. Instead you refused to accept accountability but rather go into denial mode.

Everything after that you've brought on yourself so don't even go there with the assumptions accusation when in fact you led it off.

If you want to keep responding to my rebuttal go for it. If you want to stop, stop now.

Also there were police reports in the furniture throwing incident.
