Big Ben out for season

So is it the Ulnar collateral ligament AKA "Tommy John" injury?

Too bad, I was looking forward to seeing the Steelers sink with Big Ben.........now this just gives them an excuse.

No one even touched him and he got a season ending injury.

Damn, i wouldve rather they imploded with ben since he played a part in ab ‘s relationship with the Steelers souring and we were supposed to see him and Pitt ‘flourish’ without the drama. Now they have an excuse for a failed season if they miss the playoffs again.

That said, Rudolph looked good in his absence and added life to that offense, albeit for one half. Be interesting to see how he does as a starter. Still looks more like their window has officially closed and they will spend a couple years rebuilding now, lots of issues with that team besides this.

Breaking: Steelers select Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Miami University!

Rudolph will play better than Fat Ben

They weren’t going anywhere even with Ben

Honestly I'm a bit more worried about the Steelers with a young quarterback. Big Ben has been in a long, slow decline for years and they've struggled to find an identity. Now they've got some youth and energy and a new identity on offense. They still have a strong o-line. If Rudolph can develop some synergy quickly with guys like Washington and Smith-Schuster it could give the Steelers a shot in the arm they've desperately needed for years

It's not good odds that Rudolph can take over the team and transition them to a contender this year, but I've seen stranger things happen.

Bottom line -- we knew what the old Steelers were. Now we don't.

Definitely agree with this. Roethlisberger was easy to game plan against, and they have had a very defined glass ceiling since Polamalu retired and that defense faded.

That said, the odds are they are a worse team long-term in going from a Hall of Fame QB to Mason Rudolph, though Rudolph will almost certainly be a better leader.

I would think this helps those with James Washington in fantasy. Familiarity with Rudolph since College.
One of the things that happened almost immediately once Rudolph came in is Washington became a big part of the offense. Personally I think Roethlisberger criminally underused the guy

Disagree. Worse roster, but better leadership, may well result in a better team. Roethlisberger has not been a great leader for many many years. If Rudolph can get the offense to really buy in, which Ben really hasn't done for them in a long time now, we might be very surprised at the level of strength the Steelers can still muster

Fun read of PFT 76 comments about Ben's injury. Quite a few have faith in Mason Rudolph, one even said he's a potential HOF'er. Multiple posts said Tomlin should be next. Ten or more requests to get Kap. My favorite was great now that you have more time get back on the air with your radio show.

I can't stand him but hope he recovers well and is back on the field.

I can only imagine what UrinatingTree's next few NFL posts will look like.

Good. **** him.*

*He's actually a rapist.
