He could have said that but i find it strange that this woman didn’t go to authorities all this time. Not once filed a criminal suit. Only talked about civil suit. She claims that she was raped forcibly. Brown needs to have videos after may 20 with the accuser so that “feels like a rapist” will be hogwash.

I've always wondered about this - seems like most people should have this attitude. I always have. But here is what I have learned after nearly a half century of observing human behavior:

Many sports fans boost their self image by conflating their own lives with the success of the team they follow. It is a form of virtue signalling, and the Patriots' success have enabled a lot of people who otherwise don't have a lot going for them a reason to look down their noses at other people. Understanding that, it follows that anything that tarnishes the Patriots is perceived as an attack on their own self image. Thus you get things like the previous 145 pages of rage, denial, rationalizing, deflecting, and insipid attacks on fellow fans.

Once you understand this, is it easy to see the analog behaviors in other social domains.
