I am so pissed that we traded a good player to the #### Jets because of this guy. Just get him out of here. Next time have a better draft BB and sign a decent free agent WR without baggage. Just wasting the salary cap now.

If it makes you feel any better, there was a fairly large portion of the board who felt Thomas wasn’t making the roster well before Brown was added. I personally think Thomas is essentially done...preseason game 4 against third/fourth stringers doesn’t prove anything, which is why the Jets gave up basically nothing for him (and only after Enunwa got injured). The improved play of Dorsett and the surprise emergence of Meyers have a lot more to do with Thomas being traded, as those are the guys he’s competing against. Both Gordon and Brown have very different skills than Thomas.

Funny how putting a patriots jersey on seem to have turned Brown from a d-bag on his way to a mental institution into a misunderstood genius.

Yes, everybody deserves due proces.
Yes, her story seems fishy.
Yes, the emails/texts do make Brown look bad, rape or no rape.

Serious question: Why would anybody put themselves through all of this **** for 75k? Are people really that insane?

I agree that haven't been brought up enough but it shows the chic ain't too bright. Trying to sue a guy for 75k when he's worth millions??

Patriots WR Edelman charged with groping, free on bail – Boston Herald

Julian was arrested and charged remember. I don't care for AB, I was not in favor of him being signed. That being said, I think it would be a travesty to drop him because of this with the inconsistencies and the system should absolutely be allowed to proceed and assessed after that has run its course.

How could he be. His first practice was yesterday. I say sit him out Sunday. I would say that regardless of the accusations. Why take plays away from guys who have been working there butts off (Dorsett) and deserve to be out there, to force feed a few plays designed for one guy.

Let next week play out. If he does not get put on the CEL then he will be in better position to actually contribute. That will be a stretch also. It is going to take him 2-4 weeks or more to be on the same page in this Offense.
“How could he be ready?”

The guy is a 10 year vet who has likely run every route in the play book at one time or another.

“Why take plays away from guys who have been working their butts off?”

Because he is a superior player and the point of every game is to win. Hard workers will get recognition at a banquet in the offseason.

“Let next week play out and wait to see if he gets put on the CEL?”

Delaying participation because of events that may never materialize accomplishes what exactly.

“It will take 2-4 weeks to be on same page of offense?”

So what. 10 plays this week, 20 the next. Decoy short. Decoy deep.
His presence alters coverage. He is an asset from the first whistle on.

Great recap, borg. My last post on this subject was EIGHTY pages ago when I had thought that this topic had finally reached a point that comments had started to repeat themselves. If you had written this recap 80 pages ago, it would have been appropriate.

I have no idea WHY this thread has gone on for this long, nor do I care to go back more than 3 pages to find out. Seems like its the same stuff we talked about then.

Here's the important things to remember.

1. It all happened when he was playing for PITTSBURGH!

2. Its a CIVIL matter. One party trying to get money from another for actions the other supposedly did.

3. Both parties in this suit have flawed positions. Clearly this isn't clear. ;)

4. Nothing I've read so far should (though I did miss 80 pages, ;) ) should disqualify AB from playing.

5. He's clearly an idiot, and I wouldn't my daughter go out with him, but if idiots were banned from their jobs, then the unemployment rate would be over 30%

This is a good post.

Plenty of posts suggesting was just acting crazy all this time, so he could join the patriots. Read through the raiders thread and then the newer threads and tell me there's no difference.

I never suggested 75k wasn't a lot of money. Just seem like a small price compared to what you'd have to go through. And let me just add to that, no amount would make it okay or worth your while, if you're lying. Was just surprised by the amount.

Requested damages of $75,000 is the statutory minimum for a federal district court to have jurisdiction in a civil matter. It's not an arbitrary number; the attorneys almost certainly wrote "no less than $75,000 in money damages" specifically so a federal court would get jurisdiction (making it more high-profile) and so damages were theoretically unlimited. It hardly matters since this case (and the countersuit) will never see a courtroom. It will either be dismissed prejudicially or settled.

If Roger puts him on the CEL we should start a go fund me page for legal fees and have women file simmilar civil suits weekly against our opponents best player, then drop them after the game. Or maybe just for the playoffs..... ??

The board's fascination with Demaryius Thomas is ridiculous. The guy beat up on car wash employees and UPS delivery drivers a couple weeks ago and now he's Jerry Rice.

She's asking for way more than $75K. At this stage she does not have to specify an amount. However, since she wants this in federal court, she does need to say that the unnamed amount is at least $75K.

Shiny new ornament on the X-Mas tree.

I remember thinking that was the end of the line for him. Glad Bill stuck by him.
Still look at the writeup from a couple years ago here 5 Players You’ll See At The Super Bowl Who Were Accused Of Assaulting Women
"After the alleged incident, Edelman was arrested under charges of indecent assault and battery, to which he pleaded not guilty. His charges were dropped a month later after prosecutors decided that they could not prove the victim's account "beyond a reasonable doubt."

Makes it sound like he got off on a technicality rather than hey they have video and it was a complete lie.

Thanks to everybody clearing up the 75k for me. Didn't know that's how it works.

For the guy with lifetime earnings pushing $100m and extremely poor judgment? lol
No, not for him. To cover the legal fees of the women who file the frivolous law suits against our opponents. Was that not clear in my post?

Except she is seeking much more than that. For it to be a federal lawsuit the party has to be seeking at least $75k.

Just an fyi

Federal courts also have subject matter jurisdiction over cases in which the parties to the lawsuit are citizens of different states, either foreign or domestic, and there is greater than $75,000 at stake in the lawsuit.
