Duke traded to Broncos

Chung didn't go away and then became an All-Pro, only to return to the Patriots. He flamed out in 2 locations, and only became successful when he returned to the tutelage of one of the greatest coaches of all time, and his role was more limited.

For crying out loud, stop with the nonsense already.
Chung's role is not more limited now than it was then.

Go back to bed

Getting back to Duke Dawson, are we still pissed his gone?

I will end it with this, if was any good, the Pats wouldn’t have let him walk to the Eagles for a measly $10M for 3 years
They were letting Edelman walk for a lot less than that.

Lol, 8 dont think anybody has expressed any outrage. Just noting it was a bad pick.

Chung was decent in his first go around. Hand some trouble covering TEs, but wasn't bad at it.

I can't speak as much about the other years, but Chung was terrible in 2011.

And there was that whole fake punt thingy in the 2010 playoffs too...

Here you go regarding Chung. BB admits his “mistakes with Chung” and also confirms he played a different role the second time around.

Here’s another nugget for you:

“During Chung's first stint with the Patriots, from 2009-12, he played more free safety in the deep part of the field. It partially led to some ugly coverage in the Pats secondary during those seasons.”

The Patriots were going to let Jules walk for a deal that would have been less than a "measly" 3/10 deal. I bet half of that would have gotten it done.

So that must mean that Jules was awful? Why would the Pats do that if they diddnt think he was awful? I mean Chung wasn't good according to you - and that was 3/10

But they didn’t and he’s still a Patriot.

Don’t take my word for it. See my above post.

But they didn’t and he’s still a Patriot.
.
Yes... They did. They let him test the market and visit teams. And if one of those teams had offered Jules a "measly" 3/10 then Jules would have bolted here in a second. He would have bolted for 3/5 easily.

Either way he diddnt even get 1 offer.

That would mean he is a "miss" correct?

For the two of you who chose to disagree, take it up with BB, who's said the same thing I have:

I look forward to you two explaining how History, myself, and Bill Belichick are all wrong about this.

No, he was a 7th round pick. Chung was a 2nd round pick. Two different expectations there.

And up until 2012, Edelman hadn’t played much. So why would they be so urgent to sign him? Chung started many games so they knew enough about him. After Edelman signed a one year deal in 2013, he had his best season as a starter. Pats resigned him immediately in March of 2014 with a 4 year deal. You gave a bad comparison.

It’s a legit example. The pats let a player walk for peanuts . Just because he was a 7th round pick it does not matter . What matters is that they let 2 players walk. One got a decent offer and took it. One got no offers. The point being they let players test markets all the time it dose the mean that they are bad players .

Oh and if Chung never came back here and helped us win 3 Super Bowls and an appear in an additional super bowl them I suppose a strong argument can be made that he was not a great pic. But he did

Yes you are correct.

Because BB put him in a better position to succeed. @Deus Irae and I both posted that article where BB explains this.

He was initially a miss as a draft pick, but a hit as a free agent during his 2nd stint. That’s all I’m saying.

Bb should never use a second round pick on db’s or wr’s. He should use second round picks on te’s, ol’s and de/olb’s.

Ps: someone needs to make sure he never scouts another Florida gator player as long as he is head coach.

Really hope BB didn’t miss on this Williams kid. His track record drafting cornerbacks is abysmal.

I know. Weird how the undrafted ones stick around.

Expected him to be cut, this is a bonus.

Still sucks we wasted good draft capital on him.

Was in that evil minefield of twitter yesterday trying to track the comings and goings and once again the old, worn out adage about "BB does not know how to draft, "BB should hire a GM instead of doing both jobs" blah, blah, blah...

The reality of Duke Dawson was the Pats found better talent than him in UDFA and drafting other D backs that beat him out, this is a meritocracy ... do fans really want him to stay if there is someone better on the team??

Then out and about turned on sportstalk radio who were also trying their best to "gin" up controversy about how how this team could never be good this year as Gronk has departed the building.. . Gronk leaves big shoes to fill, but they have done that before and will do it again..

One of the side products of the Patriots success is that there is a preponderance of "experts" who really believe the BS they spew.. "nobody is right if everybody's wrong".. is SB LIII that far behind we forget how great BB really is???
