OT looks like Jimmy G had a tough outing

I'm thinking of revisiting that thread from a couple years ago to remind myself who wanted to keep Garoppolo and get rid of Brady.....

Imagine if when TB12 retires JG is a free agent/backup without much interest! Belichick’s master plan all along :)

Why is anyone surprised? it's his first game back after missing extensive time, I would have been amazed if there wasn't a struggle period.

He's probably out there to get his reps and is focused more on physical recovery than performance right now. It's something that every athlete who's dealt with knee damage has had to adjust to. Even Brady wasn't fantastic his first couple games back after getting Pollarded.

Rough. Hope he’ll be alright. I think that Nick Mullens kid might be something, I’d have given up a third or fourth for him before we took Stidham.

I’m trying to figure out why he’s 3rd on their depth chart

He’s behind Beathard? That’s wild. I’m somewhat surprised Mullens wasn’t traded. Beathard is a solid backup, so if they are confident on Jimmy coming back, I don’t think they need Mullens. I guess they want to make sure Jimmy is good.

Non story Jimmy G will show up when they are playing for Real.

We'll see - whether he shows up under center or on the sideline. So far, he lasted 2 games for us and got injured 3 games into the 49ers first full season.

Having a "struggle period" is one thing, but this guy threw 5 consecutive interceptions in practice, and followed it up with a 0.0 QB rating. If I was a 9ers fan, I'd be quite a bit worried.

I’m guessing he was as of last night since he was the 3rd qb to play after beathard.

He looked skittish. Kind of reminded me of Hayward coming back at first after the ankle injury.

Jimmy is a bust.

Just watch. I called it 2 years ago.

He was not that spectacular last season before being injured vs KC. JAG.

Jimmy Average Garropolo

I wouldn't read too much into a short stint in a preseason game after being out nearly a year.

Coming off an ACL injury.. he has to mentally retrain himself to really step into his throws.

Yeah, I am cutting him in my DEEP fantasy league where I currently have him as a back up QB.

It is fair to say that there is *some* uncertainty regarding Jimmy's future.

He didn't just struggle. He looked terrible, his play was horrendous, but worse than his play was the look on his face. It was bad.
