If Bill were going to use a draft pick on a STs position, he should've used it on a Placekicker.

Who? The only kicker who was drafted after Bailey has been an absolute disaster in Browns practices and missed his only FG of the preseason.

Yeah, there likely weren't any kickers in the draft to bring in for camp competition. Bailey's certainly been that for Allen.

Captain, you've been way off your game this summer. If you don't turn things around soon, we might need to bring in some competition for your position.

Overall, thus far, the’ve totaled 11 sacks, which is just 3 shy of what they finished with during last year’s preseason (14) and well ahead of 2017’s exhibition total (4). The only thing they haven’t done much of is force turnovers. They have just one interception so far, after having finished with five takeaways last preseason (3 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries).

darn it! I told them to work on that...

That's the thing about Gostkowski, it's easy for people to say he stinks, because it's the misses that stick out with people yet plenty of people don't realize that he wasn't that bad last season.

He was perfect during the regular season from 20yds-39ds last season (21/21) and was 4/6 from 40yds-49yds but just 2/5 from 50+. He missed just one extra point attempt.

Overall, he finished 27/32 during the regular season, with the same number of misses (5) as the league's leader (Ka'imi Fairbairn).

During the postseason, people forget that he missed just one field goal (he hit 5/6), including 3/4 from 40yds-49yds

Not perfect, but certainly not terrible. Kicking in Foxboro (or any cold-weather city) is tough and you can't just "go find somebody" because it's not that simple. All I was saying about Gostkowski is the fact that he's had a tough start and he needs to build some momentum heading into the season.

Belichick is probably one of the few coaches in the league who knows how difficult it is to be a kicker and very few probably would have stuck with him when he went through his rough patch. But give him credit, he stuck with him and credit Gostkowski for figuring it out. Thankfully, it's just the preseason but I think even he'd prefer Gostkowski put these early misses behind him and start becoming a little more consistent heading into the season.

But I definitely think we're still not quite at the "get rid of him" point.

We have 13 picks next year! If there’s ever a year to draft a kicker, assuming there’s one worth drafting, next year would be it.

Bring it on baby! As the late great Pedro Morales was fond of saying, I'm ready for any kind o' action...
