I'm pretty sure a bunch of the stuff Brady practices is nonsense,
What specifically, and why? Just because it's unconventional and you personally never have been exposed to it? Brady seems too smart a guy to be wasting his time on "nonsense."

I never thought of what Brady has done as any form of "quackery", whatever works for him, his mind and his body..

Recently he said he is faster than he has ever been, also spending more time with his family is a smart and personal choice.. he has been to enough TC's and non mandatory activities to pretty much know what is expected and how to take care of himself...

As in anything you have to believe it will work if you want it to work, obviously he has confidence in Guerrero and whether or not we/I like him has nothing to do with #12's choice...

Yeah, he's a smart guy, and he's our QB so nobody but Pats fans are allowed to say anything bad about him. But Giselle and he seem to have fallen for some new age stuff that has no basis in science. Like he carries certain stones around that she says help him win games. Superstition has played a huge role in the lives of many significant people in history so it isn't surprising.

Sports writers who have interests beyond sports seem to be the best - they bring a rational perspective and an intellectual capability that provides for rich reading. And they are only getting rarer, because of the current cultural popularity of anti-intellectualism and anti-scientific method.

Fat chance any of the flunkies and hacks in these parts who claim to be "columnists" could assemble enough words in their vocabulary to author such an outstanding piece.

Due to your response, I went back to that post and watched the video. My two take-aways were that I was blown away a person like that existed, in Mississippi of all places. And that Jenkins was not all about sports! Thanks.

Or anywhere, frankly. Writers like Jenkins don't grow on trees. FYI, from her Wikipedia page:

"She has been named the nation's top sports columnist by the AP sports editors four times. She is the author of a dozen books and received the National Press Foundation's chairman citation in 2017."

If you’ve played sports successfully or not, it’s more probable than not that you have a number of superstitions or rituals. When I think about mine taken out of context, Brady’s seem pretty mundane.

New age stuff ... Oh no! Sounds like those crazy Christian people who wear a crucifix claiming it wards off evil. Or Jews who have those silly little hats. Even Muslims with their prayer rugs! Indians and totem poles! They've all fallen for things not based in SCIENCE! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

he does it with awesomeness

Every year Brady takes a look at his draft card. Number 199. He puts it on his shoulder and carries it through the regular season and beyond.

People forgot that Brady has been doing this in a cold weather city. Brees is 40 but for the most part, has gotten to practice (which is 90% of it) in either a warm city (San Diego) or indoors. Brady has spent his entire career in the cold. That impresses me more than anything. What other "cold" weather QB lasted this long? Favre?

And Favre used liberal doses of antifreeze

Maybe the cold is a preservative, like with the body of Ted Williams.

Bingo...

The comments...it's like a parade of paint eaters.
