Jordan Reed Trade Speculation

The Pats need a blocking TE, not another TE who can’t block. We have enough of those.
We don’t have any receiving TEs either.

So I was just driving through DC on my way back from Florida and I happen to be dial surfing and I came across The Team 980 the Redskins sports radio station and they were talking about Jordan Reed and one of the hosts was talking about trading him to the Patriots for a 3rd rounder he later said it probably would closer to a 5th rounder than a 3rd but I ask the question to the board would you trade a 4th Rounder for Jordan Reed if hes healthy hes one of the best TEs in the game but the last 3 years hes only played in 31 out of 48 and only started 21 during that time frame, hes signed for the next 3 years and his cap averages out to 8.5 per season. So would take a shot on him???

Only if they give us a third rounder to take him off their hands. :D

Not to knock the member who started this thread but imagine IF the Patriots actually signed every player that they were "rumored to be interested" in? The NFL would have to change the roster and cap rules since we would have 1,000 men in camp. ;)

Not so fast... Washington is the worst team in the league when it comes to taking care of player injuries. This actually is why Trent Williams is holding out- so many players have had injuries there that were never properly taken care of.
That's very ominous for Alex Smith.

In a vacuum? Sure, particularly since they've got two 4th rounders in next year's draft, as of now, and the trade could stipulate that the Redskins get the lower of the two. In the context of this season, with the LT position still seemingly uncertain, and the less than optimal amount of cap space left? It would depend on how comfortable the Patriots were at that LT spot, and how much space the team was ready to open up via extensions, a contact renegotiation, and other moves which impact the cap space.

So what happens when Gronk comes back?

Weei radio has an article called "trades could be coming for the Patriots........which I cannot access over here. Sounds an obvious statement for them to make but if there is anything interesting I would hope someone may comment in a thread somewhere on the board

They are going to change the name of ir to Jordan Reed. No thanks.

I would not give a 4th, but a 5th would do. There are two things I think about with Washington, well actually three but I will leave the owner out of it. One, they have without a doubt the worse coach in the league, how he is still a coach is a puzzle to me. The second is the medical staff as others have stated. Terrible coach, terrible organization and terrible owner. On second thought, maybe a 6th rounder.:D

I wonder how he would fare with the team that has the best injury prevention and recovery program in the NFL.
And what team would that be?

Pats need a George Kittle, or at least an Austin Hooper, plus a developmental-type like Dawson Knox...oh wait...

You can’t have everything, all the time. Let’s just say TE and LT are the weakest positions on the team. Something needs to be done about that.

or not

There will be 2 positions that our weakest on Labor Day. Every team has 2 weakest positions, even the best team in the NFL (that be us).

I do expect that we might sign or trade for a veteran swing tackle, and perhaps a TE.

Personally, I'd rather use the cap room to extend one of two from this list: Thuney, Van Noy, Collins, McCourty, Harmon, Jones.

TE is really not a valuable position. Watson, La Cosse is more than enough. We should concentrate on a tackle with the remaining cap room
