So I was just driving through DC on my way back from Florida and I happen to be dial surfing and I came across The Team 980 the Redskins sports radio station and they were talking about Jordan Reed and one of the hosts was talking about trading him to the Patriots for a 3rd rounder he later said it probably would closer to a 5th rounder than a 3rd but I ask the question to the board would you trade a 4th Rounder for Jordan Reed if hes healthy hes one of the best TEs in the game but the last 3 years hes only played in 31 out of 48 and only started 21 during that time frame, hes signed for the next 3 years and his cap averages out to 8.5 per season. So would take a shot on him???

No. Well, not at the price of a 4th round pick, anyway. The Redskins would be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him, in my opinion. From a Pats fan’s perspective, I wouldn’t want to see them part with more than a 6th.

A player can be great, but their injury history needs to be taken into account, and football is a violent sport. If he can’t see the field, he is useless to the team. The guy on the radio who suggested a 3rd rounder must not follow NFL trades very often.

$10M cap hit. Isn’t this guy another big receiver pretending to be a tight end?

Don't see it with about an average $10 million cap hit for the next 3 years.. but you never know. Not sure how the Pats could make it work

Pro's:
Age 29
446 targets and 329 receptions for his career
24 TD's

Con's:
Cost
Not a blocker

Does this mean he is injury prone??

December 27, 2018: Washington Redskins placed TE Jordan Reed on IR. (started 8 out of the 13 games he was dressed for)

December 12, 2017: Washington Redskins placed TE Jordan Reed on IR. (started 5 out of the 6 he was dressed for)

August 21, 2017: Washington Redskins activated TE Jordan Reed from the physically unable to perform list.

July 26, 2017: Washington Redskins placed TE Jordan Reed on the physically unable to perform list.

December 20, 2013: Washington Redskins placed TE Jordan Reed on IR. (started 4 of the 9 games he was dressed for)

Yes.

Not so fast... Washington is the worst team in the league when it comes to taking care of player injuries. This actually is why Trent Williams is holding out- so many players have had injuries there that were never properly taken care of.

He gets hurt, a lot. How those injuries are handled is a separate issue. I've seen him miss parts of games that aren't shown in the stat because he dressed for them.

All set ........

I wonder how he would fare with the team that has the best injury prevention and recovery program in the NFL.

With the prorated signing bonus its closer to 8.5 APY for anyone that trades for him. But given his injury history it's still too much risk to take on. Even without that history he is pretty one dimensional so not sure he'd be worth that money.

Sounds like you are talking about Team Retirement.

$8.5mm and a pick...yuck. He's 29. Doesn't add up.

The Pats need a blocking TE, not another TE who can’t block. We have enough of those.

I'll wait until they cut him before I consider him. Even if they did trade for him the stipulation would be a significant pay cut. Like 75%.

If Watson is cut that's $600k cap hit. If LaCosse is that's another $500k. Not big money but it adds up.

Nonetheless they need someone who can get out and block and Reed ain't it

I’m not sure about this one, found a live feed of Reed walking out to breakfast this morning...

Reed seems like a candidate to be cut so I would hold off making a trade for him.

Doesn't Reed have a significant concussion history? I'd pass
