We are going to lose Caserio before the draft next season.
I hate to say it but it is time to trade him to Houston and promote Ossenfort.
Houson has been playing with his junk under the table for a while now it's time to just accept Caserio is going to make sweet love with Bill O Brein.
We need to hope that Ossenfort is up to being the guy if we could I would also being back Pioli.
I'm thinking the trade should be for a second round pick.
Or Jadeveon Clowney.

Houston just leaks numerous reports as “anonymous sources” that they’re still pursuing Caserio? Oh, those cheating, dishonorable Patriots.

I doubt you get that much for nine months of Nick Caserio.

Houston doesn't need to leak anything.

They're not hiring a GM.

Exactly if he has in his mind he's with a AFC Rival next season it is what it is his free will but I don't want him here because it's human nature to not give it 100 percent to think about your next job and start looking at that roster.
Players that fit that organization.
Belichick shouldn't think that keeping Nick here for this year when he doesn't want to be here is the right way to operate.
Trade his but to Houston.
They don't want to pay Clowney I would rather have Clowney for one season then Caserio as a lame duck at least Clowney will ball for a deal.

I agree with most of this, except we don't know what BB might value from Caserio for this season. Bill might not care about any of this or he might trade him for a late pick.

You just never know the inside scoop with Bill until it's over.

Why would want Pats want Clowney unless Houston is willing to pay half his franchise tag salary. I would rather hamstring Caserio and take 2020 draft picks in trade.

Why on earth would Houston give the Patriots anything significant, like a superstar player? We’re probably talking about a maximum return of a fifth round pick. The draft and free agency have already passed. Caserio is gone next year.

As I’ve pointed out previously, Houston’s tampering of Caserio caused damage to the organization since it clearly rattled their cages. Kraft is total and utter ****sy for dropping the charges against them considering how other teams have gone for the jugular twice.

after reading this thread I must say, yeah, I'd try smoking crack just once to see what kind of effect it'd have on MY thought process...

Do you not think that option has already been discussed?

Houston doesn't want to fork over picks.

The matter is closed despite HOU still playing with Caserio's junk under the table.

Caserio’s contract doesn’t expire until after the 2020 draft. Even if the Patriots can’t count on major contributions from him in free agency or the draft, they fully have the right to keep him from helping the Texans.

Speaking of crack. Snowfall is a great tv show! I didn't know exactly what crack was until I watched that TV show!

Brings back fond memories of Kimmy Houson and our 6th grade “table dates.”

We should make them give us Deandre Hopkins and JJ Watt as well. On top of that we should make them pay their salaries while they play for us.

(A) Ten months (the time until his contract expires) is a long time. Anything is possible.

(B) Part of the reason the Patriots don't want Caserio to leave is that he does more than basically any other "GM." Among other things, he attends and often participates in practices and is in the booth on game days talking to Josh McDaniels.

I agree it’s a long time. The NFL is such a fast paced league. If the Texans pull up lame at 7-9, it could be the end of BOB and the coaching staff, which probably means cut the crap with this cheap imitation Patriots era and bring in guys with new ideas instead of stale Patriots retreads who obviously can’t duplicate any results without Brady and Belichick. The Texans have a lot of talented players and last year’s postseason dud was very concerning.

Why would the Texans trade Clowney, who will be balling for a new deal, just to land a GM one season early?

Some better questions would be why Belichick would want to pay that kind of money for a one year rental when he just refused to pay Flowers on the franchise tag, and how in the world they’d clear up that kind of cap space even if they did choose to go that route?

Best not to ask those questions. Clowney is a big name edge rusher with lots of highlight reel plays, so naturally Belichick will back up the Brink’s truck as usual. Or at least that would be the plan, if he weren’t planning something even better: he’s hoping this will stir up more interest in obtaining the prized director of scouting, and the Bears will trade us Kahlil Mack straight up for Caserio. As for cap space, Belichick will likely release Michel, Jackson, Bentley, Harry, Van Noy, both McCourtys, Harmon, Thuney, Andrews, Develin, White, and a few more guys. Patriots 101.
