Praying for a Quick recovery

I suffered two strokes in my early forties....I'm still here decades later.Bru will get better. They really have it down these days.

My late great Ma ma Cat had one (in her sixties) and never recovered. :(

At least with regard to this incident, the good news is that he is likely to be just fine. A “TIA” is a transient ischemic attack, which is essentially a “mini stroke” which resolves often on its own without any residual deficits. This is much different than a true stroke or a cerebrovascular accident, which often results in death of brain tissue and can have permanent functional consequences.

Severe angina is like a TIA of the heart....symptoms from lack of oxygen to the heart muscle (myocardium) but no tissue death (myocardial infarction).

All our best wishes for you Tedy!!

I thought this was like the anniversary when I saw this. Wow what a bummer

Get well soon, Tedy!

Yeah, me too. I dug around the interwebs a bit before I started the thread. I wouldn't want to put false news out there, especially something like this.

Get well soon. Running three Boston Marathons after last stroke. Great shape and too young for a stroke.

There is no such thing as "too young for a stroke" or a heart attack for that matter. And blood clots can happen for a variety of reasons regardless of how "healthy" you seem to be.

3 years after I graduated High School, my Gym Teacher had a heart attack. Turned out that despite how he looked (he was bulked up like crazy, worked out, and was Coach of the football team) he has really high cholesterol. Caused his heart attack. He was 40 something.

I had another teacher who was the tennis coach who died of a stroke in his 50s.. He played tennis almost every day after school.

My Nana was the same way. She had one during my junior summer semester of college.. Went in and never came home.. :(

That's awful, Teddy is a very healthy guy who eats right and run marathons, likes to work and is a total class act.

Unfortunately strokes seems to be random, what is concerning is that it's his 2nd. I had cases in my family - including my dad - of reoccurring mini strokes until BOOM the big one hits.

Ugh that's terrible ! Get well soon Teddy !

Two strokes by 47 years old. Not good. He will be in my thoughts.

I just realized that Tedy's children who were on the field with him before SB XXXVIII are now over 15 years old...

Get well, Tedy!!!

The doctors told him after the first one that he was no more at risk for another than anyone else because they repaired the hole in his heart.

Clearly they weren’t quite correct.

doctors are wrong all the time.

Not to downplay this and I hope for a good recovery but when I read TIA I was a bit relieved, that's not too bad and hope he recovers soon. My FIL had several TIAs and recovered nicely.

So I’ve done some research on the type of stroke he’s had and it sounds like it’s a lack of blood too a portion of the brain and that can cause stroke like symptoms but they should resolve within 24 hours. The biggest key I think is he recognised it quickly and is getting the help he needs. He is the embodiment of what being a patriot is. Him, Law, Seymour, Willie, and a lot more invented the Patriot way. Will never forget his speech after the 04 play offs against the colts.
