Will someone tell me something about Enes Kanter. Right now all I know is that he's tall, from Turkey. and is the C's mid-level exception guy.
Mixed feelings on Kanter. The guy is a great rebounder, something we have long been lacking. The real issue is that he is not a good defender which will spell serious trouble against the other bigs in the East.

I am not going to argue against the signing as we are desperate and he came cheap. We’ll see how it goes.

Good offense and rebounding ... defense is a little suspect but he likes to bang

With Enes Kanter in fold, Celtics depth chart looks like: BALL-HANDLERS: Kemba, Smart, Edwards, Waters (2-way?) WINGS: Jaylen, Jayson, Hayward, Semi, Romeo BIGS: Kanter, Timelord, Theis, Grant, Yabu

Great contract for a double digit scorer and rebounder. Defense is clearly a concern against players like Embiid in the East but tasks like he and Giannis take a team effort anyhow. I think it’s about the best we could hope for. I’ll take it. The hope is for the young guys to make strides and hope RW steps up. But I think he still has another year to go before becoming a significant contributor.

We are a top 4 team in the East this season. I’ll take it...considering how it was looking with Kyrie and Horford bailing.

I know him mostly from his days with OKC. Great low post scorer and rebounder, great low post moves and hand eye coordination. Absolutely terrible defender, not because of effort, he just can’t move his feet fast enough. Pretty good locker room guy.

Born in Turkey, he has bravely or foolishly criticized Turkish President Erdogan who has tried to get him arrested and Kanter wouldn’t travel to an exhibition game in London for fear of being assassinated by Turkish agents (which was widely considered a valid concern). Of course, the US dismisses the accusations and would never extradite him to Erdogan. Interesting fellow IMHO.

in the playoffs, Kanter outplayed Steven Adams ... he even had a 20 point 18 rebound game
Jokic sort of had his way, but Kanter wasn't a doormat.....he did not do well against GSW......he did not hurt the blazers in the playoffs

Love to see them get rid of Yabu ... even if it's Taco.
He is worse than abysmal ...
Is there really anything to be gained by getting rid of Yabu? I don’t think it gives us any real cap space but I could be wrong.

Terrible player, GOAT bench cheerleader.

Fall is a long way from being on an NBA roster
You are right ... I just think Yabu needs to go.
Classified as a big is a joke ... he gets stuffed all the time going to the basket and he cannot shoot.

I didn't know anything about Kanter on or off the court but after hearing that he was stateless with an active hit out on him by the Turkish government I was sold. Glad they went and got him.

You are right, for some reason Kanter outplayed Adams in the Portland OKC playoff series (although Adams was hardly the only problem), but make no mistake, Adams is a far superior center, that is why Kanter (who was older) was let go by OKC in favor of Adams. I think Kanter is a good addition at his bargain price, because he can get hot and really be an offensive force. The problem is that he is so bad defensively, teams that decide to go at him can run up the score on him. He is best used as a “heat check” guy off the bench when an opposing scoring center is resting on the bench.

I hope we can find a center that can play some defense to compliment him. If so, the Celtics could make some noise this year.

Continuing to hear that the Celtics’ acquisition of Kemba never gave them a chance of bringing back Horford because his commitment to Philly was already locked in at that point.

New Celtics center Enes Kanter via text to @TheUndefeated on why he didn’t return to Portland.

I like the Kanter move:

a.) Only 2/10M with player option in year two. He could be gone next year if he performs well.

b.) Watched him a lot during the playoffs with the Blazers playing the end of double headers here in CA. Good rebounder, hustles, and a decent scorer. His D is problematic though....I think even Baynes had quicker feet. He won't do well vs. Giannis/Embiid...but he'll show heart which is what we need.

c.) I am not even sure he can play in Toronto without security.....could be a minor problem.

d.) Williams (Time Lord), Williams (Grant), Kanter, Theis, Yabsuele, and Falls... we are gonna need a lot of good perimeter D and fast breaks to off-set this liability, IMO.
