Sounds like it was a lot worse than they are are making it out to be. Reports are saying removed some of his intestine, part of his colon and his gall bladder.

Yes he’s alive and seems well, but wow, a 6 hour surgery isn’t a walk in the park either. So glad he’s ok.

I had my gallbladder removed the night before SB49. The gallbladder offering to the sports God shows papi is equally committed to the Bruins.

In all seriousness though your gallbladder is not vestigial but very little side effects to living without it. Removing it is one of the more common procedures in this country.

I can't speak to intestines and bullet wounds but does sound like positive news.

Biggest challenge when removing intestine is infection, both from the surgery itself and then from complications.

I've no idea of the quality of care he got, or that's available in the DR. He'll need some luck from this point forward, regardless. Not out of the woods by any means.
